Is going to take a mans man to face up to this beast!
Watch the video, I dare you!

I'm not going to watch any video that requires that I log into fakebook.

Ooooh, scary and dark!

Nice helmet!

Humm, I watched the video and did not need to log into facebook. Furthermore, I am not a member of FB, and don't intend to be. In any case, not my cup of tea.
John Henry
-
Indeed you do not need to be a member of Facebook. Try it again squatch, I think I can see one of these in your future. Are you a fan of the Phantom of the Opera?
-
Well, no chance of me pulling into the 2nd Sunday of the month breakfast in NE Ohio on a Flying Fortress. Much better chance of seeing me pull in on one of the new small blocks.
Damn, Guzzi ..... you should know you're not going to compete with a 'batwing' fairing HD with this bike, so why try? Instead, do what you know you need to do ..... make us a nice big block standard. Those of us who are Guzzi fanatics will probably buy one. But, no way in hell are you going to convince HD riders (en masse) to start buying Flying Fortresses. Too big of a leap, for starters, for a brand-jump. How many HD riders does anyone know who are willing to jump brands from HD to Guzzi for the pleasure of riding a Flying Fortress? And, how many Guzzi loyalists are going to spring for a Flying Fortress? Not me, for sure!
Sorry ..... couldn't help myself .....!
-
Reminds me of a Victory, body was all blended in.
Tom
-
Well, at least they're doing some marketing.......... ..just not to the majority of long time Guzzi owners, probably a good idea, this 30 year Guzzi owner wouldn't buy one.
I hope they sell thousands!

Ehhhh
I am disqualified for not being in this market. but if I had that sort of bucks I'd have a Griso. Or a nice V7 and some serious change.
-
I'm not into baggerz, but for some reason the MGX-21 is growing on me.
I like all the carbon fiber. I like what they've done with the bags and the tail. A bit of a modern Cadillac look.
The gauges and dash have a bit of a 1950s Italian auto look about them, but the lines of the fairing don't seem to go with the lines of the rest of the bike.
I'm looking forward to seeing one in the flesh.

Cant imagine they are looking to pull HD riders in mass. But if they can pull even 1% Away from HD and turn them into conquest sales it will mqke sense for Guzzi. they already have us, there after the pirate crowd.

Truth be told, I'm not knocking the bike, just its goofy marketing, but perhaps thats what works for this type of bike?
As far as baggers go, I think it looks like it has the right stuff. It's certainly flamboyant, but I thinks thats a big part of the appeal for the bagger crowd.
-
Blended-body Flying Fortress? Something wrong there.
I'd rather see something like an updated Monza, under 400 pounds. But I'm a runt with a short inseam so what do I know in the time of bigger! bigger! BIGGER!!!

Couldn't give a flip about this particular offering though I was intrigued by the thread on the "Touring SE".
Mahbe it could be the preferred "Club" bike for HGTV's upcoming series:
"The Sons of Apathy"
Anyhow, on their page they have this:
For a version of "The Flying Fortress". Any idea what these "ideogramma" are based on?
If it's a "thing" for millennials, as a perennial - I'm clueless.
Todd.

A man's man to ride the bat cycle? Really? No shit? Scuse me, but I don't think so.
-
So, you're mostly not crazy about the fairing. Nice looking beast, I think. But I'd rather a more standard face.

Wasn't Italy an Axis power?
Just sayin'

Italians trying to do American. What could possibly go wrong...

Gah! I like Moto Guzzi and many of their current bikes, but the Flying Fortress leaves me shaking my head. Tossing aside the beautiful California Touring for a Batwing... If I were king...
-
Italians trying to do American. What could possibly go wrong...
Pizza double burger with jalapenos and ranch.
-
It's still a 1400 California with all the wrong ergonomics for my old broke back. Besides it's ugly.
-
Seems like it's being widely dissed here; bet it turn into a big hit for Guzzi.

"exclusive, with a limited production run" - Unlike all other Guzzi models?

I am that age and after riding the Audace, there is no space for anything based on the 1400 platform in my shed.

One thing I've noticed about guzzis, at least the standards, is that they're not judged in the same way that most other brands are. Power Rangers on sport bikes will always hate on Pirates on Harleys and vice-versa, Triumph has the hipster stigma and BMW riders are a breed onto their own.
But put a guzzi into the mix and people have no idea what to make of it, they've usually never seen one. The transverse V-twin engine looks so outlandish to most people that they forget their preconceptions and just appreciate the bike for what it is and how it looks. That or they get the "what the hell is that?" look on their face.
I actually like the look of the Flying Fortress, and the decision to make the cylinder heads red seems like a great move for precisely the reason I stated above. It's so out there that people might actually take to it. There is no ingrained rivalry like HD vs Indian, or American vs imitation japanese cruiser. I'm not sure they'll sell at least a few of them at Sturgis, in any case I think it's a good move on their part.
-
I love it, and I am glad Guzzi did it. It looks different, like a Guzzi should. The type of styling reminds me of the Diavel but it is different yet from that.
Brilliant design.

I guess they spent a lot of money developeing the 1400 platform and need to find something that will sell. Maybe it will appeal to the non red suspender wearing riders.

I like that, wish I could think of some examples of Americans trying to do Italian - thick crust pizza? Is carbon fiber the new chrome? Does marketing work? It will be interesting to see the magazine "reviews" and the sales numbers (if anyone knows how to find the numbers). Before I bought my V7II I put together a matrix of all the things I needed or wanted in a motorcycle and all the things I didn't want (my perfect motorcycle matrix) and then I started filling out the matrix with different bike specifications. I had never even seen a Moto Guzzi but I knew of the brand from my youth. The V7II came closest to fitting my perfect bike concept, not based on any advertising or magazine rider reviews, just based on "facts". Then I ordered a V7II without ever having seen one in person or ever having ridden one. Of course this left out qualities like sound and soul so I could have been disappointed when I picked up the bike, but I wasn't.

Maybe just slightly less ugly than the Virago cruisers. My motorcycle re-entry bike, a 1983 Virago 750. Perhaps the originator of the FWP style fuel tank (thank you, John in Vt, for that description.) I installed lower, more forward bars, and footpeg mounts that brought them back several inches. For all its appearance issues, it was a sweet running bike.

It's fugly and looks like a fourth cousin to a poorly executed Bat-cycle from a Batman movie.
Include me OUT of the list of potential customers for this Frankencycle.

Needs top trunk, crash bars that do not permit damage in a tip over (ala Victory Vision), and lowers. I am hoping they will add the full touring gear just like Indian did with the Roadmaster.

After this bike's price is discounted to 40% off MSRP, they "may" get a few pirate wannabe buyers that were considering a $25K Harley.
-
If I was 40 and still chasing young ladies that thing would be in my garage .
Dusty
And if I were a lady and you pulled up in one of those, I'd know you were compensating for deficiencies elsewhere.
-
it appears the current crop of Harley riders can't wash their own bikes yet alone change oil. how will they keep a Guzzi running. (FYI I am a life Hog and MGNOC member) also I think of the four remaining dealers in the US only two will stock one.
after 3 weeks and 1400 miles on the new V7 I rode my old 2001 EV this week. it's still my favorite of almost 40 bikes. stick in the latest V11 engine with a six speed and I would pay $18,000 to get one. possibly two. I don't need any more big pigs.

Hey, thanks!

First I thought it belonged in a Batman film now Im not so sure.
That bike would have fitted perfectly in Zoolander 2. It so over the top. I imagine Hansel riding it in the Zoolander 2 in Italy.
Call it Italians doing Americans doing Italians add infinitum...
Just so long as it turns left as well as it turns right (to keep the zoolander pun) optional extras should be external fairing speakers an MP3 of Wagners Rings and some Rhinestoned wings to attach to ones helmet!
I'd definitely like to borrow one or hire one for a day but owning something like that? ...
If Guzzi only make a 100 I think that's the right number. A bike that's not for riding but solely for blatant showing off. On the film theme I think the MGX-21 will probably manage a few film appearances - for dark cool or comic bling I am not sure which, quite possibly both!
-
Just a tease?
-
Who knew the Grim Reaper rode a Guzzi, ha !!

The fairing is what undermines it. Sorta reminds me of the Vetter Winged fairing of the nineties:

I get it that some people think a Virago was ugly, but you do realize that is very subjective. Check out the sales numbers, a buttload of people thought they looked just fine. I've had 2, and they were light feeling, comfy, wide torque band on a smooth engine. And the best stock cruiser seat I've ever found. Early ones had a single major flaw, the crap starting system (250 dollar upgrade). They were fun and well worth it. For the record, I liked it's looks from the get-go, until they eventually tried to out glitz everything.

wouldn't it be funny to find out that in the design offices where these decisions are being made, some staffer is on this forum, tracking wild guzzi's reaction to these design initiatives.
I envision this staffer walking into a conference room with a 1/2 dozen people pouring over drawings...they look up as the staffer enters, closes the door behind them and says to the assembled, "they hate it"
At which point everyone at the table smiles and the head designer says, "excellent, team, we're on to something."

Moto Guzzi Testarossa?
Pluses:
- Shape of the back half, including light integration
- Emphasize a nice looking engine
- Pegs rather than boards
Minuses:
- Fairing from a California design studio
- How many 'make-pretty' bikes are we getting on the same platform (Eldorado, Audace and now this)?
- Disco front wheel - try passing a semi in a cross-wind and see what your steering does
- Carbon-fibre (or look-alike) parts with no protection makes repairs both expensive and more likely
-
I really really liked the look until I saw how foot forward it was. Takes all the sport out and kills my coccyx. If this was a neutral position bike I would be in love.
-
Ugly bike and it looks just as ugly in person.

Not for nothing, but do you know this guy?
Cause I've met a ton, and MOST are far from DBs.
Yeah, some aren't the brightest crayons in the box.
Yeah, some are overthrown kids.
But most are just trying to be different from what they perceive as average, boring, whatever. And MOST were genuinely nice people when you met them.
So hell, if they're willing to deal with the lifestyle, and that appeals to you, then go for it. I'm not gonna assume you're a douche unless you act like one.

"A halo vehicle (or halo model) in automobile marketing is one designed and marketed to showcase the talents and resources of the manufacturers and to promote sales of other vehicles within a marque. Car companies often design a special vehicle, usually a luxury or sports model, with the hope that customers will come to dealerships to see it, but will buy other more practical vehicles instead. The classic case is the Chevrolet Corvette, which changed the image of Chevrolet of the 1950s from one of mainstream practicality to desirable sportiness. Such models are intended to shine a positive light on the manufacturer, and generate a positive buzz in the press and among consumers."

At least two and sometimes three of those goofs are my brothers. And not the pandering, pathetic "I love you bro"... "we're all brothers" type of brothers but actual siblings.
The generally sad nature of proving that they are just as individualistic as the next guy down the bar at the "Iron Horse" is a level of paradox and irony that left humorous or sympathetic behind about 45 years ago.
Nope, clad a turd in gilding or leather and it's still a turd.
Some books are not only completely judgeable by their covers but in fact beg the judgement then chafe at the results.

Look, no one here is perfect. And thinking we're "better than" usually doesn't end well... That's all I'm saying.

I guess not "better" but rather more hygienic and lost posturing or pretentious than the middle of the road 'percenters.
Like I said, a couple-three of them and their gals o' the year are likely to be sitting across from me of the average Thanksgiving.
I get 'em, but cut 'em no slack in aggressive analysis of the chosen, projected life style. They fairly cry out for objective derision as a sign that they're "doin' it right".
Everyone's got a "thing", just some thrust it out there whether oriented through race, gender, nationality or "lifestyle". To decry a less than sympathetic perception speaks foul to the rights of others to dissent.
Offenses, real or imagined, be damned. Sometimes, the thinner skinned (1st, 2nd or 3rd party) should not be begging to be a socially evaluative tool or a tool at all. Doesn't mean we all need to tow the line but if one sets one's self deliberately outside the lines - to be identified as such in less than glowing or even "tolerant" terms is part of the load.
Todd.

"The classic case is the Chevrolet Corvette"
I think it's the Viper. They don't care if they sell 5 a year, it's only being made for PR. They sell more Corvettes in 6 months than all the Vipers ever made.

Todd.
I hear all that and don't argue with it.
Of course, the number of people who look like the earlier pic is quite a bit larger than the number who actually wear the diamond patch.

so that means you have met five of them? sorry couldn't resist
Guys in colours usually have supported themselves by dealing drugs, guns, running prostitution and extortion, other than that they may actually be nice guys, I personally have not me a ton of them, maybe no more than fifty
You're an ignorant putz. I earned my patch in 2007. I keep earning my patch by supporting my brothers. I've never engaged in the trades you mentioned. Many of my brothers ride 10,000 miles a year, and still work full time. Many own businesses as welders, fabricators, mechanics, contractors, etc. I was a computer consultant for 7 years, traveled many places doing so. Many are in small towns where they are the only one doing what they do, because it's not profitable for any chain to open up there. We do not seek your approval. But you will not like the results should you try to prevent me from living my life.
And I am below 300 pounds now!

You have me confused with my brother (real one, no club affiliation), now he is a real putz, me, think mensch. I draw my opinions from my family and friends in law enforcement and their interactions with the red and black. Your experience is obviously different.
Personally I have nothing against patches, I earned a whole sleeve of them in the 60's, like the uniform but I outgrew the whole boy scout thing.

According to a biker name site , my club name would be 'Ol Boo Boo , my club would be the "Nutcrushers"
"I can hear the Saturday afternoon discussion in the "Nutcrusher's" clubhouse , "'Ol Boo Boo you ignorant Putz , you haven't got a clue about what wine to serve with caviar." "Well Mean Bob , at least I didn't serve red wine with that lovely chicken dinner prepared by your wife at our last dinner party , sheesh dude , what a faux pas"

Having never ridden one, most having never sat on one, fewer yet willing to consider buying one the best thing is to bury it first before it becomes a magnet of potential MG buyers or; just imagine someone actually owning one and looking for a place to visit.
Where would they go? Maybe the BMW sites or a HD shop that is open 7 days a week?

I'd say that prototype to pre-production, and they've kept it close...
