This guy has a centauro for sale. It is maroon and silver, he swears its a 98. Could it be a leftover and titled as a 98?
-
Centys were built in '97 and '98. don't know if the silver burgundy was available that year or not.
-
98 model, they came in 6mo early
-
Had one for five years, you had to bully it into a curve. Fast ( always) and agile if you worked quite hard at it.
-
Yep, that was one of the color combinations available in the US.
Raising the forks in the triple sped up the steering a little. The bikes are *really* fun, but have their warts. Be aware of them if you are thinking of jumping in the pool.

just 'cause I'm that kid that liked to look at the pictures...

I have a 1998 Centauro in maroon and dark grey [not silver]. Sorry no pictures as it's currently tucked in the back of the garage awaiting spring.

Such a great looking bike...a riding buddy here in town has one in that color...it's a beast!

Love my '97 yellow Centy!
-
Of course there's that oil pump thing. How many miles are on that bike? R3~
-
Thanks for the reply's. This one has 7600 miles on it, has the creden chip otherwise stock. I have done some research on them, hadn't heard about the oil pump. My dad had guzzies, 68, 700 and 72 eldo 850 long gone. Can't afford an old one and always loved the look of the these. Guy is asking 5500 for it.

Beautiful machine!! If you can afford it you can afford an old(er) Guzzi...in general...you could find a fine V7 700 850T, Ambo or Eldo for less than that...just sayin

I would stay away from it.
Sometimes the grin on your face will stay long after a ride on one.
-
I agree with Joliet Jim - avoid this bike....and send me the guy's contact information!
Seriously beautiful bike!
-
Now others would disagree, but for me I don't think there is another Guzzi that I would trade my Centauro for even if offered as an even trade for my 18 yo Beast

Last summer, I purchased a yellow 1998 Centauro GT. The fastest Guzzi I have ever ridden! (I have owned 5). Certainly, it is MUCH faster than my old 1983 850 Le Mans-III. I am having A LOT of fun with this bike and draws attention every time I take it out!
The handling / braking is excellent. It's like an Italian V-MAX, although not quite as quick, but quick enough for me!
Rare, as they only made about 1900+ total production, (Centauro, Centauro Sport, and GT).
I need to fix / upgrade / modify a few things and it should be good to go in time for the New Mexico Rally in late August in Datil.
