Had a nice charge back up Clyde Mountain this afternoon. First time I've had a good push up this great but highly policed road since the new donk went in.
I noticed that while passing vehicles with the engine spinning up around the 7.5-8 you really got a shrill screech reflected off the sides of those vehicles. It's the roller tappet 'Whickering' noise but it must be pretty damn loud at speed as I always wear ear plugs and can generally hear little mechanical noise when riding.
Probably means it's about to blow up. Bloody 8 Valves. No fun at all......

That's 'Government Bend'. Poo Corner is higher up. Just to note it is NOT and never was 'Pooh Bear' corner and has nothing to do with the famous character created by A. A. Milne.
It is called 'Poo Corner' because there is a spring there. This was the closest place with running water to the encampment of the construction gangs lived while cutting this steep and arduous road in the mid twentieth century. As such you could wash your hands after you'd had a shit. Hence 'Poo Corner'.
It was only about the turn of the millennium that some politically correctoid half-wit decided that this wasn't *Nice* and changed the name to 'Pooh Corner' and started encouraging the depositing of soft toys and other such detritus on the corner by the spring.
It's that sort of thing that makes me want to stab people in the eye with a marlinspike! :violent1:

PS. You changed the pic Dean. That's nowhere on the Clyde.....
