Title: Smart vacuum ?
Post by: normzone on February 29, 2016, 10:17:05 PM
I have vague, ethanol misted memories of requesting somebody to tell me what smart vacuum they bought that was clever enough to seek the charger before it died, and it would scan the room and plot a path before beginning.

I only vacuum every few months, whether it needs it or not, but still, gotta support the merchants.

Think it was Chuck ( in Indiana) who referred to that.

Chuck did mention it first.  I also said that we inherited a Roomba, and it sounds similar in some ways.  My wife likes it for some applications.

From what I can see around the web, the major use for smart vacs is to entertain cats and their owners.

In your rush to the future just keep in mind that while true artificial intelligence may still be some time in the future; artificial stupidity is already here.

I certainly hope it's configurable to put in the order when I'm down to one case.

They do a great job on hard flooring.  We have polished cement in a militaristic decor.  Just the 2 of us and are freakishly neat.  We are shocked at how much dust etc it picks up.  Yes, she finds her way back to the charger.  She then uses the smart water robot (Scooba) to run after the Roomba as a sort of finisher.  These are great devices in the right place. Used them for the past 7 years.

Wait... WHAT!?!

Now our vacuum cleaners are thinking!?!

And I've been distracted vigilantly watching for "Skynet"!
