Hi,
Have read all the posts but still not entirely clear on an exhaust purchase.
I had a set of Mistral Reverse Cone exhaust on my V11 and really liked them especially for the money. I didn't re-flash my V11 and didn't experience the popping that many have cited here with Mistrals on deceleration.
I am contemplating getting the same Mistral set for my 2014 V7. My goal is not added power and primarily to clean-up the look of the bike and I did enjoy the sound better of the Mistrals based on my prior V11 experience rather than the stock cans.
This being said my question is around the need of a re-flash. It is not so much the added cash outlay as much as the hassle of taking the ECU out and shipping it out then reinstalling. Has anyone put these on there V7 and are happy with them without doing a re-flash or has everyone ultimately gone that route.
Any insight appreciated.

For only $500 you can refresh it yourself
Check guzzitech
I remember when carb jets cost 80 cents

Yes, I saw that and for the extra couple hundred I would probably go that direction. But also hoping to hear from anyone/others that have simply installed and happy with them without a re-flash?

I had a pair of Zards slipons that I installed on a 2013 V7 for the same reason as you, I was really only concerned about looks and sound. If your bike is running well for you as it is, I wouldn't worry about a reflash. Adding slipons with the baffles in didn't require a reflash, the bike ran the same for me except for some very slight popping on hard decel. Taking the baffles out increased the frequency and volume of the popping but the bike ran identical to stock otherwise.
All that being said, plenty of folks don't like how the V7 runs stock, especially at really slow speed so a reflash might be worth it if you're in that boat.
I also decided to install a full system 2-1 along with a hi-flow BMC filter so I did get the reflash. For me, the throttle response is vastly smoothed out, and the engine stopped sounding strained as it was revved up to 7000, but no power gains that I can feel. The power actually even feels a little down as I started to get used to the snatchier delivery of the stock fueling so the smooth fueling from the reflash feels tamer powerwise.

My 2014 V7 Special runs great with the factory upgrade map.
It's got Agostini slip-ons with the db killers shortened.
No popping on deceleration, and the bike runs great.

So I can probably conclude you were overall happier with the slight hard decel pop rather than if you stayed with the stock?

I like the look of those too....just struggling with the extra $$....think those are $300-$400 more. As I prepped for my first service I confirmed with MI that my bike does have the latest factory map.

Most definitely, I personally don't even think the popping sounds bad, it feels racebike as hell engine braking to slow down. The combined benefits of looks, sounds, and dropping weight vastly outweighed some popping noises from the new slipons.

I have no experience, but Staintune claims no reflash, 5hp gain, and only slightly louder.
They do cost a little more, but they look fantastic and you mentioned that you wanted to "clean up" the look.
(Keep in mind the price on the site is Australian dollars)

I never read the GuzziDiag info.....I thought I read, but incorrectly it seems, that you could not perform an ECU re-map on our V7's. So all I need to do is purchase the proper cables and and load? Why do so many go to GuzziTech? Guessing these maps not as good?

Guzzidiag won't reflash your ecu, I think it can reset TPS sensor and trouble codes

What I thought. Thx!

Right now you can use Guzzidiag to upload the existing map in your V7 1TB .
(I have done this and had a look at it)
As it currently stands though, Guzzidiag is not yet able to download a new/edited map.
