There's no question that the more prominent YouTube motorcycle vloggers are on the leading edge of recording riding motorcycles.
But it seems to me that they aren't very technologically savvy.
They are all using GoPro cameras, or variations, but most other prominent YouTube personalities are using more conventional compact cameras, with superior resolution, that could easily be used on a bike. There is no significant cost difference, and the latter are more versatile. The obsession with "action" cameras, and the sameness in look that it imposes, kind of escapes me.
When it comes to sound, the current convention is to record on a Zoom recorder, which is fine, but without exception these motovloggers are using really cheap mics. At some point, one of them will spend some money on a decent microphone, and it will change what viewers expect in terms of sound quality.
Over the last year, we've seen some motovloggers experimenting with the Sena intercom system. For vlogs involving more than one person, it is at best a necessary evil. The sound is atrocious.
A few are experimenting with gimbals. The reaction from subscribers is interesting. Some love the significantly better stabilisation; others, myself among them, think that the result is rather robotic.
We're just beginning to see the impact on motovlogging, rather late, of quadcopters. I think that this is going to explode over the next year.
I believe that Monday's announcement by DJI of the Phantom 4 is going to transform video, including motorcycle video. DJI's launch videos on YouTube, and its deal with Apple stores, are going to capture the imagination of a lot of people.
Just some quick thoughts on where motorcycle video is, and may be going.
Very curious to know what others think.

What's a better way to eliminate wind noise while recording with a GoPro? The mic is so sensitive that if the camera is positioned either on the helmet, or on the handlebar, anything above 50 mph creates too much wind noise.
Options: Tape a piece of tape up on the Mic? I'm using the GoPro Session..love the video, but sound in the wind is not good. Mounted looking backwards on the rear of the bike is fine for sound, but limits the recording angle.
By the way...do you have any videos you've taken combining best in class photography and sound recording so we could see a benchmark?

It isn't possible to record good sound using the mic in a GoPro.
This is something that all of the significant motovloggers, without exception, have figured out.
You need to use an external recorder and an external mic. Choosing a recorder is the easier part. The more difficult part is choosing a mic, which may involve more than one if you want to record both your voice and the bike (although at the moment everyone, as far as I can tell, is using one mic for both).
I'm going to send you a personal message tomorrow that elaborates on the foregoing.
