I just had to post.....Been cooped up in the garage since the first week of December and today in NW Lower Michigan it was 62 degrees...enough snow melted to get out of the long driveway and to the main road. Grin plastered for 2 hours!
I know a lot of you don't have this issue...lucky you.

I love the smell when the dust starts to burn off the hot bits after a long hiatus, (on the bike that is !)

Well, the thing is.. the people that live in moderate climates just don't get it. That first ride of the year is sublime.. :thumb:
Dorcia says the same thing about her flowers. She's a master gardener, and says that first shoot of spring gives her a thrill that she just doesn't get when she plants something in California.
If you read "Alaska".. there's a scene when the natives haven't seen the sun for months, and when it first pops up...

That's why I moved from Alaska to Washington. Funny thing is, even though we are the same latitude Michigan has much more snow.

I think that's got something to do with the Gulfsream currents heating the air, but I'd like to hear from someone who knows

I'd say it has more to do with the upper Midwest being a frequent target of the drop in lobes from the polar jet stream...it pulls down artic temps from the northwest and across the Great Lakes=colder temps and a snow machine from the lakes until they freeze over...with or without warm currents the ocean moderates the climate of the PNW
Vancouver WA gets around 36 inches of rain annually...US average is 37 inches annually Michigan around 32 inches per year...102 inches of snow....Vancouver gets 7 inches annually.

Oh, thanks for that explanation, it's got the ring of common sense to it, probably why it didn't occur to me.

Yep, fresh tires on the EV11, took the wife for our first spin on Sunday.
Rode the commuter KLR650 to work this morning.
Yay spring!

63 F here and going up over the next few days. Of course, this year my bikes have only spent a couple of weeks on the chargers, so I can't complain much about this winter.
