Title: Cardan Joint question
Post by: BillinPA on March 10, 2016, 02:58:04 PM
I am gonna need a cardan joint for my EV. I was on MGcycle website and the are out of stock of the "high quality" they do have the "economy kit" in stock. Has anyone here used the economy, I am not interested in buying crap to save a buck.....I am interested in getting the parts here quickly once i shred it. Thanks

I had the u-joint on my 850T rebuilt by a member on here. Cheaper and better than new. Might be a viable option?

Local drive line company in Ocala Florida rebuilt mine many years ago when I was still riding loop frames.
They found a Spicer (Brand Name) joint that fit.

John Chilcoine will rebuild it or sell you one with core charge.  He's in MA.  Does good work. :thumb:

I've heard the "economy" u-joint has issues fitting onto the splines, not sure if it's true. I didn't take the chance and bought the o.e.m. quality one for a customer's SP.

John Chicoine <jchicoine@verizon.net> was out of the crosses needed to rebuild the disc brake 'joints a few weeks back, but might have them now.

Thanks Charlie I will check with him. Mg is out of stock for the OEM.....guess it's either John or wait.on the OEM from mg. Sounds like the economy is not what I want.

John C rebuilt the cardan unit for my Jackal. He did a great job and I am very satisfied.

I've bought from them before. No hassle transaction.

This is the second since new.....this one just under 25K, it isnt mangled but i heard a click when releasing the clutch. Pulled boot back and with bike in gear, rocking wheel it shows some play in the crosses. Original I replaced at 50K due to carrier bearing being bad...joint looked good but hey I was there!!!!
