We're gonna have to put this off. Will try again next year. Maybe early in the year. Thanks for the interest though, and if something changes, I'll let you all know.
I've been working outside for the better part of 6 months in my front yard. I own 20 acres in rural SW Missouri. Most of it is hilly and rough. But, while cleaning up my driveway from under-brush and other limbs, rocks, etc, I discovered that it would be very easy to put several tents and bikes on the place. It's mostly flat too.
So, I thought I'd put out my feelers and see who may be interested in coming for a night at some point in the future. I was thinking about a 1 night deal. Maybe a ride over on Saturday and ride home on Sunday type thing. I have a 1000 sq foot shop to put up some tables for coffee, vittles, etc. We can even wrench on a bike if you wanted too. There is no public restrooms, but there are 20 acres of woods and I do have a water hose,, so it would be a "semi-primitive" thing. If you sweet talk the Mrs, she may let you in the house to use the restroom :-) The only other downside is I live on a gravel road. It's not loose, but it is gravel. It's around a mile from the highway.
So, who's in?
Oh, did I mention pool?

When? Sometime in June maybe???
-
Ahh , the secret WG headquarters is revealed  You know I'm in , are we talking mid May ?
Oh , only the women folk should be allowed in the house , we want to be invited back

the WildGuzzi Homecoming!
are you sure one day will suffice? You could charge a fee and we'd all pay. . pay off your server costs..
maybe get a porta potty or two..?
that's coming from Minnesota and I don't even have a Guzzi to ride there (right now) so not sure I could make it but I would love to..
Swimming pool or Billiards?
-
I was thinking of doing the same thing at my place outside of Chattanooga Tn sometime. Maybe I'l wait and see if you get much interest. If I am available, I would do my best to go also. Although my Guzzi got totaled in my last acident I still got the Gold Wing and the 1971 Honda CB 750 Chopper!!!. LOL :bike-037:
-
Wait , we are having chicken and not squirrel , right ?
Dusty
-
My vote would be September, June July and August are too busy
-
Squirrel is good
-
Long as it ain't that Texas armadillo ,never did like that stuff. Now if' it's Louisiana 'dillo that's real eatin there :food:
-
cool make if Father's Day like you're rally was
-
The date depends on if I can get grass to grow in the newly cleared spot.

I was thinking one day because of the lack of showers and stuff. Money is not that important. Just an opportunity to relax. Yes, above ground swimming pool. There's a creek down the road a mile too.

I actually did the old campout on Mothers Day. Steve did his Arkansas deal on Fathers day. I'll ponder some dates. Just mainly wanted to see who would show up. I know the dates are important. Enough people show up, and I'll get a porta john brought out.
-

That's OKC mile
-
if you build they will come.
really date dependent for me. have lots of things sitting in the cookie jar right now.
-
yep yep!
-
That's OKC mile
oh never mind  :thumb:
-
I'm interested. Like to see you guys and get to ride in Missouri again.
-
I'd stop by and say hello.....
-
Oh fun...another Guzzi rally! Could be Luap...that'd probably be 2 days up and then a circle around...depends a bit on when/work travel etc....but another good excuse for a trip!
-
That's a very generous offer.
I'm in.
-
I can prolly make it.
-
Hats off to you Luap, I'd love to be there but will be in Europa at that time with the Norge. Looks like you have a ground swell of interest, and probably a real tonic for the forum ?? A great idea and deserves to be a success
-
I was at the first one and most of the rest; so I'm in for the re-do, if at all possible. Have to be on 4 wheels, tho!!
-
I am not planning a rally or campout, but, I do have a place for camping, hot and cold water, shower, toilet, shelter and tools for those that may be traveling thru my area. You are more than welcome to throw up a tent and spend the night. Notice, I said the night?
-
Driving the van, with a bike on the back, to Chicago for my 50th high school reunion, Sept 10. If the timing is right, we'd detour to attend.
-
Very interesting, a lot would depend on the date involved! :thumb: :azn:
-
June? After about the 15th. We start our summer at the WNY rally and need a few days to get there. :
-
Ahh , the secret WG headquarters is revealed
Yep. Sorta like the Greenbrier in West Virginia.

 Except maybe more secret ...
Dusty
-
I'll be there if the date works out.
Thanks for the offer.
Jay
-
I think that that would be righteously cool and if the route and timing are good - I want in!
Todd.
-
Luap,
I'd be interested, if the date would allow.
-
Garth, party on!
We are not worthy...
-
It this going to be one of those clothing optional get togethers?

Probably you won't be thrown out if you forget your binders. :boozing:
Todd.

Also interested if dates work out. That area is just plain ridiculous nice scenery.

Yes! there and south/ southeast
-
Yes! there and south/ southeast
So you don't like SW from there ? My feelings are hurt ...
Dusty
-
Hmmm, that's only a couple or three days ride from me; I might be interested if I'm not elsewhere in a different direction.
-
Well, there seems to be plenty of interest for sure. I'll definitely keep you all in the loop. A lot of things have to fall into the right place to get this to happen this year, but you all sure give me motivation to make those things happen.
Stay tuned...

Just keep it simple dude.

Sometime with cool nights would make the camping nicer...
Thanks for considering this event, Luap. It sure would be cool to put faces with names.
-
Yes, Dusty...but I just retired on the 10th and a whole bunch of possibilities have just opened up. Besides, Luap has done a bunch to keep this forum rolling and it just seems like this would be a particularly great event to undertake...
-
I was thinking about the Louisiana gathering in Homer, but my mom has been quite ill. I can't really schedule much right now. That said, Cedar Vale is going on the wish list...
-
OK all, the grass is growing nicely. So, I think we'll do this thing. Here's what I have in mind.
* Let's do this labor day weekend. Labor day is on 9-5-2016 (Monday). So I was thinking folks could ride in on Saturday (or Friday if you desire) and leave out on Sunday and still have an extra day to recover or travel if needed.
* No fee. You will get your moneys worth
* There are no showers, but I will build an outhouse in the next couple weeks. I've always wanted one anyhow :-)
* There's plenty of room. Plenty of trees and shade. You might want to bring a folding chair.
* Consider this a primitive camp out with a twist. We'll rustle up some grub for you and you'll ride by dozens of beer stores to get here. I have one in mind that I'd love to see everyone use. Joy's country package on E hwy. She's a lifetime friend of mine.
* I have a 50 yard gun range that is next to where we'll be camping. If you want to go bang bang. This is why I choose to live in the country
* You'll be riding on at least 1 mile of gravel road. It's not too loose, but if you're not comfortable with that, I wanted you to know right up front.
* No RV's please. Pickups and cars are ok.
* No pets please. We have enough territorial dogs to keep us all protected.
* This is probably not a suitable environment for children.
* There is a creek about a mile away that could keep you entertained and cooled off if our pool is not ready by then.
* I have a 32X32 shop we can setup as HQ. Put some tables and coffee pots in there with the food.
* I'd rather not put directions to my house on the world wide web, so if you're completely interested, please drop me a line at Luap@wildguzzi.com and I'll shoot you some directions. Please let me know who you are and where you're coming from. Maybe even a phone number in case I have to cancel, reschedule, give updates, etc.
-
I sense trouble
Dusty
-
Hey Luap, do you have wifi @ your house? Some of us have a tradition of going to the Spriingfield mile that weekend. If we could watch fanschioce tv out in the yard we might make an exception. And it would keep some of us occupied and less obnoxious on Saturday night. :boozing:

Yes and no. We have Hughes. It sucks. Not good for streaming videos but otherwise decent enough for the basics.
-
OK , I will bring my Metro PCS powered smart phone , one of you pooter geniuses can figure out how to link it to a big screen .
Dusty

Any hotels nearby? Now that mine's running, I was thinking about taking the wife and some time and going up to the Blue Ridge...but the Ozarks are pretty fine too. The wife might camp for a night or two but she'd much rather have A/C and a good shower. Plus we'd trailer up, she couldn't make the 2600 mile round-trip on the bike.

Cassville mo would be closer. Might have to bed down with a possum family but they always lick themselves clean after dinner  :thumb:
-
Motels in Bentonville AR (20 minutes from here) and Cassville MO (30 minutes from here). Lots to do in Bentonville too. Walmart HQ, visitors Center (really neat), museums, eateries, etc. Nothing much to do in Cassville, but it would be less expensive to motel it up and the ride would be a lot nicer than going to Bentonville.

Well I thought cassville was closer. But then I haven't been to your house

Beer and firearms? Now that sounds like fun.

"Leftys" welcome?
.......and before letting a bunch of WGers onto your property, you might want to review Missouri's adverse possession statutes. :thumb:

Yah! Terrific news. Looking forward to it.
I may pack along some old S&W revolvers. Maybe some Colts too. Maybe even some weirdo Lugers and Swedish Nagants.
-
Interesting, Harper's auction is a few days later up in eastern KC. Any cheap campgrounds to "hole up" at for a few days up there?

This is campground heaven around here. Lot's of places to stay between Anderson and KC.

Everyone's welcome. But yes, check possession laws before riding with an arsenal. To clarify, shooting is only optional. It's not a requirement. I just thought some folks who don't have the luxury of shooting without paying to visit a range might enjoy it. If not, so be it. It's one of those "you can if you want and no one will bother you for it" type deals.
-
Would anyone laugh if I brought a BB gun  Yeah , no one will be standing in the camp area saying , "You veel shoot de gun"
Dusty
-
About how far are you from. Eminence mo? Have some friends there.

Swedish Nagant revolver is a rare bird, particularly in the U.S. I've never seen one in person. It'll be interesting to compare it to the Russian variety. Looking forward to seeing some weirdo Lugers as well. I only have commonplace examples.
Jay
PS: Nothing wrong with BB guns or air rifles. Quiet, cheap to shoot, and plenty of fun for plinking.
-

Roughly 250 miles.

Will there be Italian dancing girls and grappa?

well sorry to hear it, Luap.
Life gets busy and these things are hard to pull off. I know the weather and camping plans got changed for the OKC Mile last month. I hope things are OK for you on the home front.
-so-
Should we do our normal Labor Day at the Springfield Mile or some ride along in the Ozarks? Or Both?
-
If the weather is half way decent I wouldn't mind some Ozark time around Labor Day.
GliderJohn
-
It's usually hotter than Hades. That ride to from Springfield (MO) to Springfield (IL) can really zap ya.

Hope everything is cool Luap, sorry to hear of the change of plans. I guess I'll have to go to the races! :bike-037: :bike-037: :bike-037: :bike-037: :bike-037: :bike-037: :bike-037: John L??? Darren???? Buheler? Buheler? Buheler?

All is fine. Just work interfering as usual. It would be nice if this website were my only job, I might actually get weekends off then  I'll actually be back that Sunday, but too little time to put a gig together.

Well, double dog dang it. Was really looking forward to this.
I'm hoping this can come together in 2017. And thanks again for trying to get this airborne. There is definitely interest.
