Title: Happier Than a Pig in Sh*t
Post by: thepittsburghguzzi on March 16, 2016, 12:55:41 PM
I don't wear my 3/4 helmet often, but when I do, I am the Red Baron of Pittsburgh.

3/4 helmets suck on the highway, but I feel like my face skin is nicely exfoliated now thanks to the road grime, dust, and windshield washer overspray. Plus, it's easier to say "thanks!" to the compliments you get at city red lights without a full-face in the way.

Fun fun fun  :bike-037: :thumb:

That tank looks great.

I think you'll find a lot of Yinzers here. From Lawrenceville and Aspinwall, myself.

And get their water from a spicket.

Oakland here.  A nice five minute walk from Forbes Field.  Bleacher seat for $1.  Used to go to Hornets games back in the pre NHL days.

Looking good. I like modular helmets. You can lift the chinbar up at long stoplights then snap it down when the green light says haul ass.

I just bought a bag of gumbands last night! I went through  grade school in Pittsburgh, left about 50 years ago (!), still love it when I get a chance to visit.

Best food city in America of 2015, says Zagat's, according to this article from my wife:

P.S. You look great in that photo. I like to wear my own Bell 3/4 helmet around town too.

So many yinzers on the forum!! I am in such good company! Ugh gum bands... that one never caught on with me.  :violent1:

Thank you!! Engine is iconic, always draws a smile :)

Thanks! I also have a Sedici modular - it's great between stoplights, opening up. Also makes it easy to put helmet on first, then gloves and everything else last so your fingers don't have to be free to work the helmet strap.

That tank looks great.

Thanks so much, I love the color and I try to take care to keep it looking nice. Guzzi did well with the Ibis Red  :bike-037:

Looking good.

I will admit my full face makes me look like a bobblehead. I will also admit to that being an improvement.

Paul:  You might want to consider taking a ride down to Mt Morris for our little gathering:

http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=77504.msg1218135#msg1218135

Very casual group, and I'd love to see your bike in person.  Nice little ride for you, 79 down to little Washington (or Warshington in Yinzer-speak) then 19 south is a pleasant ride to Mt. Morris.  I'm hoping the weather holds out for the second Saturday in April-- 4/9/16.

Thanks! The Euro look of it caught my eye. It's a Sedici, from Cycle Gear.

UGHHHHHHH I know  I'm too big of a wuss to try to remove it, for fear of scratching my lovely paint. But I promise I will. I'll make a day project out of it if I have to!

John, that looks great! I would definitely be interested. I strolled down 19 last week, it's a pleasant ride.

Has anyone ever taken Rt 68 out of Pittsburgh (Butler) and out to Clarion? My favorite ride so far. And if you get on 36, it takes you to Cook Forest. Has anyone ever taken Rt 6 through Allegheny Natl Forest, out to Wellsboro? I've heard it's one of PA's best roads for riding for hours.

Looking good.

Haha, when I fit new riders for helmets at work, I reassure them that we ALL look like bobbleheads. When do we get to see your lovely new Wolf? I'm excited for you!

Ha ha, no scraping.

Use WD-40 or Goof-Off and a GENTLE heat (think hair dryer, not too close, keep it moving).

Paul:  I like to ride in West Virginia (yes, with the snake handlers and cannibals :)  ).  Try and find some time and I'll take you on some spectacular roads. Great burritos, too!  Mostly, I avoid riding in PA unless I absolutely have to.

What do you use to actually remove it? A soft cloth?

I've never explored any roads in WV, so I would be very happy to change that!

Looking good. Biltwell or Bell?

That motor does look great. those jugs look alot like the 2V Big Blocks. nice. Especially with bright blue pipes! Great to see you enjoying it so much, and making time to ride!

Thank you kindly! It's actually a Daytona Cruiser from Amazon... it's held up nicely and is pretty comfortable. Not a good highway helmet (at least without a windscreen) but does fine around town.

Credit card or something like it with a plastic edge, so as not to scratch the paint.  I used a combination of CC, WD-40, and hair dryer to get rid of all of mine.

You'll be spoiled.  :azn:  I'll keep you informed. I frequently ride with a friend with a tricked out Triumph Thruxton that gets a lot of attention. It would be nice to have a prettier bike along just so I don't have to watch that damn Triumph get too much praise.  :thumb:

What do I USE?  Honestly - MY WIFE.

What did SHE use? a combination of all the above - WD-40 or Goof-Off, a soft cloth, finger nails, hair dryer.

The hair dryer softens the glue, you peel what you can, if it not coming off soak it with the WD or Goof-Off, use that and some heat and the cloth.

I'm told they're really a bitch to remove, but they met their match in Jenn. :boozing:

I'd be afraid that Goof-Off might damage the paint.

I've used heat to loosen, then peal,  and then WD40 for the residue with success many times.

Jenn is a better sport then my wife, who said, "get Jenn to do it" when I told her that she removed Kev's stickers.

Nah, we had an entire thread devoted to sticker removal and I think a bunch of guys mentioned they'd used it.

I know Jenn did.
