Title: Ohlins Shock Rebuild Source
Post by: ChuckH on March 19, 2016, 12:14:49 PM
Does anyone know of a dependable, reasonably priced rebuild facility for Ohlins shocks?  I'm getting a bit of seepage from the top end of one of mine, so it's probably time to send them out for rebuild.

Thanks.

Race Tech is probably the best known.  They did mine a year or two ago, fast turnaround, works great.

Hi Chuck!

I bet Ohlins USA can recommend someone near you who services their shocks.  My local Ducati dealer also carries Ohlins and has been trained to service them....but he's in Virginia.  I'm sure you can find someone closer.  As for inexpensive, good luck.

Last week I talked to some of the Ohlins USA reps at Bike Week.  Their HQ is in Henderson, NC.  Very helpful chaps.

Thanks for the response.  Being in Virginia is no problem, the Brown Truck goes there too.  Do you have a phone number and a contact person?

Ride safe out there and maybe I'll see you down the road this year.

Chuck, here's the contact info.  You want to talk to Dave Lillard, the owner.

Don has been to the Ohlins School. He's a Ducati specialist and got my EV straightened out after diagnosing and fixing several interrelated problems.  His fees are reasonable and he's conscientious.

Thanks guys.  It looks like it's a flip of the coin.  Now I have to make a decision to do just the front or rebuild both ends.

You can also send it/them to Ohlins directly in NC. I will probably let them do the rear when needed. I just did the left fork on the café sport myself. Really easy to do if you have the time and parts.

Hi Chuck.

I've had experience with Ohlins and can recommend the following places:

http://www.propilotsuspension.com/

https://www.beemershop.com/

http://www.moto-pro.com/

Your needs sound pretty basic so many places could probably help you.

By the way, the Ohlins place in NC is not what you think.  I've been there and worked with them developing a set of shocks for the H-D.  They don't even have some of the basic suspension tools of a real suspension shop.  Nice guys and they've improved but they are not an extensive R&D or even repair shop- unless something has changed in the last 2 years..
