Title: Marzocchi M1 R forks diameter

Ok,
Why are they 41.7mm in diameter?
This doesn't even convert to an imperial measurement.
Did they get a job lot of pipe cheap to make them from?
Does anyone know?

I don't know why, but I sure like them on my Sport 1100.

Just like engine displacement where 1064 = 1100, 41.7 = 42.
