When I arrived home from the hospital last night, there was a box on the table from Jim at Rose Farm. Thought, "I don't remember ordering anything in my drug addled brain..about the only thing I've bought from him is a couple of T shirts?"
Inside, was a Rose Farm postcard (suitable for framing) with a note: Per Request!! Be safe and Get Well Soon, signed by Jim.
Also, if you've not been to Rose Farm, there is a never ending supply of candy next to the cash register. All kinds of interesting things. There was a bag of these inside an official Piaggo package. a couple of cool lanyards that Guzzi gives out at major events. Several Moto Guzzi pens. Several Moto Guzzi stickers plus a lifetime supply of Moto Guzzi temporary tattoos. (Think I'll put one on, now.)
And
A gallon of Motul 20-50. (!)
Thanks to Jim, and my anonymous benefactor!!
Life is good..

Good, very good.

There's no place like home! I'm glad that's where you is. Now about that 20/50

Is this going to degenerate into an oil thread?

Yeah.. I've been running 10-60 in the Aero engine. :boozing: Probably 20-50 would work, though. Or maybe save it for a couple of years worth of running the Mighty Mouse Monza. :bike-037:
-
Come to think of it- given your delicate state, I think it would be prudent for you to get rid of the Aero Lario and stick with the Monza. Kind soul that I am, I'd be willing to take it off your hands.
Pls note that while many in the community are supportive, good people, I have no moral qualms with taking advantage of the situation.
-
Very Cool.
-
Observing it from another part of the world for a long period, I've got to say the US Guzzi community can be both touching and amazing!
Get well, Chuck!

All a man can ask is to have good friends and to pee with velocity.... :thumb:

pee with velocity.... :thumb:
I used to be able to do that. :cheesy: At least it still comes out when asked to. :azn:
-
One drop per minute, while not very high, is still velocity.

With your permission, that will be my new signature line.

Awesome. Heal fast.

Please be my guest! How long 'til your, um... 'motorcycle area' is ready to ride?

Called Jim Barron today, and thanked him for the Goodie Box. He said, "I know you would have said, " In lieu of flowers, please send oil for my motorbike.." so I did." :thumb:
Like I said, gotta love the Guzzi community.. and Jim's a big part of it.

Yeah, he told me he'd followed the Aero Lario build when I rode it up to show him last Summer.

Don't know you Chuck, but I like the way you place importance on decency. Don't know you either boat detective, but maybe you're taking the piss, which in Australia means I hope you're joking. If you're not, I half hope that you encounter something like Chuck and the circling vultures above your head shit on you from a great height, but not high enough so it cools too much on the way down. All the best Chuck, I hope sitting with your Guzzi and having a beer with your buddies ,(mates), helps you feel ok. Huzo.

If they were out here more Guzzi's would be sold.

He was indeed "taking the piss". This crowd takes some getting used to.
-
Ok then, I understand that dark humor very well, most decent Aussies have it. In that case if he was joking, then so was I.
-
And also, if that's what I think it was, then I never will "get used to it".

Oh, not to worry. I've met Boat Detective, and he was just yanking my chain. You are fairly new here, but I'm not.. and know many of the denizens personally. I consider most on here my far flung and gloriously dysfunctional family.
Thanks for your concern, though.. seriously. There *has* been a lack of decency occasionally lately.
-
Ok, I accept that as fact since you say so. Sorry Boatie, It just didn't read that way but now I get it

True meaning can be lost with the written word, too. Steinbeck could explain this in prose much better than I can. I blame this for the occasional flare up here, too. About everyone here will get along just fine standing around the campfire with beer in hand. :boozing:
-
More decency and more beer! And more decent beer, too!!

Hey Tulsa , I like Pilsner Urquell . Hint hint :boozing: Actually my beer intake is about one beer a month , so even the pricier stuff doesn't cost me much

Make mine a Weihenstephan Vitus please. Fresh too, none of their 900 year old stock. :boozing:

Like Chuckie said if you're here for awhile you tend to know a bunch of the posters. (para-phrase)

Huzo, I can remember when Pete Roper (master of Ozzie idiom) answered a question and someone from the States asked "if someone could translate what Pete just said". I don't know whether it was the "as much fun as a bucketful of haemorrhoids" that floored him or what.
Seriously, I cannot envisage a motorcycle dealer sending a goodie bag just because I got out of hospital minus a couple of pieces. Well done Rose farm. :thumb: Gestures like that make me feel proud to ride a Guzzi. Good to see you home Chuck.

Absolutely Muzz, it's people like him that need to be valued highly. I reckon bike riders are a bit like drinkers in a pub, it doesn't matter if it's a s--t hole of a place, it's the company of like minded individuals who believe in the old standards. That's what I've got against buying tyres on the net, It's akin to going into your bike shop and trying on helmets till you find the one you want then ordering it on line, it just seems like cheating.... I dunno, just feels that way. Treat them decently 'cos one day they'll be gone if we don't replace them.
