Title: Photobucket
Post by: kenvil1 on March 29, 2016, 11:45:01 AM
Google Photos doesn't seem to be a suitable image hosting site, so I opened a free account with Photobucket. Hopefully, any images I post in the future will not mysteriously disappear.

photobucket is deteriorating.  I have to restart it any number of times to upload (OS not a factor) and restart sometimes multiple times to get it to allow me to copy the link.  The only reason I still use it is because over the years I've uploaded a crapload of files there.  Please do yourself a favor and look at what else is out there before committing to PB.

:1: It no longer suffices to just click on the link, I now need to select Copy as well, sometimes a pop up add freezes the computer requiring a hard reboot

And at the opposite end of the spectrum, I find Photobucket to work quickly and reliably.

I've been using PB for many many years on a variety of forums, so likewise, I'm hesitant to leave. But it is so cluttered crap that overwhelms when trying to load. I will say though that it's reliable and quality images and modest editing. it's really just the initial loading that is an issue. I know there are other pay to use sites, but I wonder if Photobucket's own "Plus" level is equivalent to other pay to host sites such as SmugMug

Google works well for hosting folders for sharing with family and such, but it's limited to that in my opinion.

there's also Flickr, Imgur, Zenfolio, SlickPic

Interesting.  Paid or free version?

Just the free version.  Occasionally there's some kind of ad, but it's easy to click around, and one shows up only once every few logins.

I use photobucket, but only for WG.  I never have any problems. The only real alternative for me is Dropbox.

PB works fine for me at work but plays havoc on my MBP so I never open it there.

I have tons of good pics there.

Could be you may need a good Adblocker if it's taking a lot of time to get Photobucket to work.  Also a long time user, and works effortlessly for me...load pictures individually or in bulk, click on link and paste it in.

I am running a good Adblocker though, so that's probably helping it to load faster...

Interesting thought, PJPR01, I'm using an adblocker too.
