I'm looking for the nicest full fairing 89' or 90' California III I can find. I have one but I want one in a little better shape cosmetically. If you know someone that has one sitting around not being used in above average please let me know. I don't care which year it is. Thanks for your help.

I feel your pain. It's one of the fairings I'd be seen behind -- but I can't find a set either.

I forget what they called that model but they didn't sell very many of them over here. JN Smith (deceased) had 1 in Oklahoma He passed away about a year ago. I would check MGNOC for sale ads.

JN had a well used yellow and black dresser, I haven't seen his bike come up for sale, it may still be sitting in OK. I already checked the MGNOC ads & Craigslist across the country but no luck. I'm gonna keep looking, my hope is someone has one sitting around they aren't using.

JN's bumblebee has passed on to a family member . He had purchased a low mileage Cali a few months before his death , had not ridden it much , if at all . Pretty sure his older (89) bike was sold several years ago . Still miss the old guy .

I miss him too, he was at every rally I went to for years. JN was always great to talk to, he would always tell it like it was!

I used to meet JN usually @ an Arizona state Guzzi or New Mexico rally. Met him last @ the NM Datil Rally before he passed. His old riding partner had given up and he was riding with a younger offspring(cousin?). Glad I saw him last still doin' what he loved to do. :bow: First time I think I met JN was at the `96 MGNOC National @ Mt. Vernon, Washington. He didn't look much different over those 18 years. No way I'll be able to say that. He and I got along just fine. :grin:

Good luck finding one, not many were imported. I think they are made of unobtanium.

The 1989 and 1990 Cali IIIs did not sell well and potential buyers did not want the fairing. Many dealers removed the fairing and the price was dropped to around $7,000. I would bet some of the old dealers still in business might have one in a big box. I do not see many of these models anymore. I bought one in 1995 with a sidecar mounted. Still have it and enjoy it. Took first place twice at the Moto America Open Houses in the 90s (side car division...only side car there!).

Guzzi cleared them out with the fairing for $6995. A friend bought one and then didn't ride it much. That's how I got it.

I looked for one a while back and could not find one, either a full bike or just the plastic. I ended up getting an SPIII fairing from reboot in france. Almost as good protection. I cut off the lowers so I would not bake my legs in summer.

Had a III ff for several years....fantastic fairing, elderly grandpa to a Norge, but...
I really missed seeing the road underneath me. for me that fairing isolated me from my surroundings....all I could see was huge panels....it was also very heavy...very tHick fiberglass that seemed to overwhelm the front suspension....all the pieces together was heavier than a windjammer
Perfect protection though, as well,as beautiful

IIRC, Lannis Selz had one that he planning to sell a while back. Don't know if he still has it or not.

Lannis sold his bike to Cliff Bagget. I traded for it from Cliff and still have it. I've had it over three three years now. (How long til it's known as Rich Maund's bike instead of Lannis's old bike?) I brought it back up to excellent mechanical condition. Good original cosmetic condition. Working on putting a Ural sidecar on it now. Two more braces on the mounts and it's road ready. It is a very effective fairing and pretty stable in storm winds. I rode it to the WV Rally last Spring and fought thunderstorms all the way across MD into WV. About wore me out!

The Cali III has great rear end gearing to carry a sidecar or pull a Trailer. Compared to other Cali's I have ridden, it feels like every gear was bumped down by one gear. Makes it a great sidecar tug.
