I hope you got it off the trailer.

It's a cream puff.  Barely a scratch on it.  Plenty of extras like bag liners, Corbin Seat.  Tires look like new.  Accessible dipstick.   I rode it, seems like a nice machine, a little bit of rumble on the off throttle.  Reminds of the oil head Beemer.

The PO was known to take really good care.  BTW- the same guy traded in sharp Breva if anyone is interested.  I'd be glad to test ride that one too.

Congrats on a beautiful bike Chris.   :thumb:

(Dusty, you have another East Okie Lefty on your hands)

Me likee!  Yowza .... that's a gorgeous machine.  IMO, Guzzi got the styling right on the 2v Norge.

Yeah, me too. The red Norges are drop dead gorgeous. I was on mine at a gas station out east one time, and a *very* elegantly dressed (ahem) older lady just stopped in her tracks. She said, "I can't even drive a motorcycle, but if I could, that would be the one."
Nice find, sir. Well done.  :thumb:

At least 5 years if not longer, it's just that not every location has one available.  Sometimes only available as a round trip rental too as they typically belong to the actual Uhaul center and are not passed around from location to location.

Thanks for the kind words! As mentioned, the same Previous Owner also traded in a Breva and it looks just as good...hope someone gives it a good home, too.

It's a beauty! Think about swapping out the black sport mirrors for those stock ones. I found them much better. Zero vibration with the sport mirrors.

I think the 2v CARC bikes, aside from the dashboard issue, could be classics in the next few years.  I don't mean 'classic' in terms of being worth a bunch of cash.  What I mean is that, when someone throws a leg over a nicely preserved one in 2030, they will be stunned over what visceral machines they were, and how much fun they must have been to ride, 'back in the day.'

So might the rollers.  But after owning a 2v 1200S and a Griso 8vSE, I consider these two generations of CARC to be unique unto themselves.  In either case, damned fine motorcycles!

The U-haul trailer was amazing...just 25 bucks for 6 hours...actually I think I went over a bit but they weren't concerned...sorry for the lack of RR but I promised my lovely and talented wife today was Gardening Day and we spent 9 hours getting ready to grow veggies and flowers for the upcoming season...

Congrats Wingy, that's exactly the same as mine. Mines done 92,000 and is sweeter than ever. Shipped from Australia 3 times to Europe, ( currently there for another Euro trip). I like mine cosmetically 'cos I've changed a few things but really could have done nothing and still would have been fantastic. I agree with you that the red ones are nice. If I can offer you any thing of interest just ask. Huzo

BTW, if you're interested there's my original post on Jan 25 showing some changes that you might like to see. Norge Pilot posted them for me 'cos I didn't know how. The post is "wire wheel Norge" and a bit later there was "Huzo's mods" but as I said there's really no need as such to do anything. That Norge looks really tidy, is it that good in the flesh?

Finally the stars aligned and the weather turned gorgeous for the last couple of days so the Norge got ridden, by golly!

The thing is stable, smooth, pulls like a locomotive, cruises at 65 like it's loafing, and is a blast to ride...I'm very happy and anxious to put some serious mileage on the odo....one slight hiccup: after riding approximately 5 or more miles I get a Service Light....shut it down and wait a few the restart...Service Light is gone until 5-6 miles reached then comes one again...pulled the 30 amp fuse to reset but no help there...bike runs just fine so I made an appointment with Brookside MC to pull the codes and advise...I have GuzziDiag but not the cables...

Does anyone coming to Cedar Valley have a 2008 Norge 1200 map for stock exhaust ?  I have some popping on overrun which really doesn't concern me now, but I would like to be current on the map if needed....TIA!

OK Wingy, here's the thing, mine was doing exactly the same thing and I noticed that if the light came on while riding, I could turn the key off, then pull in the clutch, turn the key back on and push the starter. The engine would start immediately and the light would not re appear, until some other time in the future. It turned out to be a rooted oil pressure switch, easy to fit if you take the air box off, don't believe the BS about special spanners and crap to get at it in situ. It's maybe 20 mins. To get the stuff off far enough to remove the offending unit and 30 mins. To replace everything. Actually to be completely honest, I'm not sure whether it was the switch or the tinpot connector on the top of the unit, I fitted a better connector and zip tied the lead to the switch body to take the weight off the connector, that was 40,000 km ago, no further dramas. Huzo.

Mine didn't do it much, but I fixed it as soon as I recognised the problem.BTW, every time I see your bike I just know that if I'd never bought mine I'd be envious, not a bad position to be in. I've never had the "I wants" less than I now do. Does that make sense ?

As Huzo noted, these issues are related to a bad oil pressure sender, a bad connector at the top of the sensor, or both. In other threads, I have offered a simple kit to replace the wiring with a better setup that works with either the older design sensors or the ones now being shipped as replacements. I am getting ready to do another run of these; if you find that thread and follow its instructions, I can supply a kit to you free (as in beer). You are required to make a donation to keep this forum operating, but it's up to you to decide how big such a donations should be.

Inquiring minds want to know...

First of all, big Thanks! to Eddie and Paul of Brookside MC in Tulsa for making a slot for me on Friday afternoon in the rush of spring MC season...(FYI, Brookside in Tulsa is the styling and profiling destination for all things transportative...th ink hot rods, customs, bikes, exotics, etc.)

Eddie initially verified updated MAP, reset the TPS and pulled two old codes from ECU: battery voltage (probably not uncommon for a used bike for sale)  and something about Lamda sensor and then cleared them....he rode bike and no Service Light ...buttoned things up and I left for a check ride...about 4 miles along the Service Light came on....went back to shop and Eddie hooked up to ECU and found no stored codes...consensus opinion was ride it and ignore light since everything else works like a charm...I mentioned that Internet Minds had decreed a possible problem with Oil Pressure Sensor and /or connection to same...they had previously service a Norge with the same symptoms but that bike had an flashing Immediate Service warning...my light just comes on and stays steady red...

So, I will try to find ITSec thread with hardware upgrade to oil pressure sensor and go from there...bike continues to run like a bat out of hell (at least for an old fart like me!) so I will soldier on to Cedar Vale!

Mate, I'll bet my flat tappets that next time the light comes on, keep the bike at whatever speed you're doing say 100 kph, reach out and turnoff the key let the bike run with the key off for a few seconds then without opening the throttle turn the key back on, I'm damn well telling ya mate, the light will go out. It's the oil pressure switch, no doubt.

so is the bike still running?  Pete Roper can give you the code to clear the symbol.

When I test rode the bike, that was thing I was looking for.  I rode it at least 5 or 6 miles on it.

Bike runs great!  Have to soften up the suspension a bit since I only weigh about 165 sopping wet...have new-style oil pressure sensor on the way, and ITSec has me down for a cabling kit..I'm not going to worry about the light as it seems most certainly to be the wonky connector to the sensor problem as described above...see you in CV!

Just as an aside Wingy, when the dreaded triangle comes up, do you get any indication on the small rectangle panel where the useless information is normally displayed ?Mine gave the red triangle once on a trip to Ayers Rock, that's in the centre of Australia, how do you think that felt !!!? After I stopped panicking, next time the light showed up, I noticed it was after I had used the turn indicator, you don't use them much in Central Australia. It turns out that the red triangle was telling me that I had not replaced the wire on the right turn signal properly and a close look revealed a small light globe icon with a little arrow facing right on the panel. That was a few years ago, but I think I've got the relevant factors correct. BTW, I'd love it if some of the crappy useless info available on the panel was replaced with a distance to empty readout like my old Triumph Sprint ST had.

What, if I may ask, was your final solution to the light issue ? Did you put in a new sensor or replace the wire connector or both ? Did it involve removing tank air box etc...?

twowings,

Any idea if the guy you bought it from was the 1st or 2nd owner?  Did it come with the MGNOC sticker on the windscreen?

I'm wondering if it was Gordon's bike...

OK.  I think I can answer for 2w.

1.  Chris told me the Check Engine Light cured itself (to my relief, I had some guilt pains).

2.  I don't believe it's Gordon's bike.  I think it was a one-owner from OKC.  They guy had a reputation as keeping his bikes pristine (I don't know him but that was what the dealer said.  The bike is super clean and came with a cardboard box full of extras).  He also traded in a Breva that appeared just as clean if anyone is interested.

1st and only other owner was not the person you mentioned...he kept meticulous records...MGNOC sticker is from my membership...I had/have this silly wild fantasy that I would/can ride to the National in John Day so I joined the Owner's Club...I do enjoy the newsletter...

The Check Engine Light disappeared on it's own after the ride to Cedar Vale, KS...oil level has remained consistent and bike running smooth as silk...I'd be out there riding it right now if my kid didn't have a dentist appointment this afternoon

After that, it's up towards Palo Duro, cross cross into Northern New Mexico, cut the corner near Durango...up to Moab, across the top to the Snake River...up thru Sun Valley, and then somehow across to John Day...either on the way there or the way back thru Lolo Pass...and then whatever other twisty route grabs the Norge's attention!!
