So I saw that Luap was going to edit out the 2008 archives so I went and read some of the last posts shown. Sobering when I saw the post on OldManJob's passing. (April 30, 2008 posting) Commenting on Bill Maier were Todd Haven and Nick in PRC.
A sobering thought. I guess we are all getting older.

It certainly is sobering. I was looking for some info on the Lario Rehab thread the other day, and a frequent poster was Yak Fat.. Rod Yeomans.. a notable small block and Morini guy from OZ, who came from the grave and told me the dimensions of the steel sleeve that fits the u joint tunnel of the small block transmission. He had stayed with us for two days on his across the US trip. I met Todd at the Wisconsin rally one year, and of course Nick used to work at Marks, where I hang out sometimes in SoCal. Knew him pretty well.
The Grim Reaper had a swing and a miss at me last month..
Life *is* short. If you aren't enjoying it, you are doing something wrong.

The last few years I have lost a number of friends and relatives that died in their 50s and 60s. My first wife died at 45. All this prompted me to retire last June at almost 60. This was the earliest I thought I could get away with it. Enjoying life, one day at a time! Yes, life is to short and goes to quickly.

Life seems short sometimes. Once your gone you don't come back as the song goes. Since humans evolved to imagine such things they have always believed life is recurring. I spose we have to die to find out. I sure miss some of those that are gone, I'm still here. Luck is all that is unless I believe in a higher power. Tomorrow I'm going for a ride down river to look at some sawmills, looking at lumber for raised bed gardens, that will get my mind right!

Keeps one's focus. My grandfather's voice comes out of me surprisingly often, and I find his instructions from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s echoing loudly every time I work on a bike. He grew up with bikes, last survivor of his club. My mom vaguely remembers being very little in a sidecar (no car). I keep calling friends who cannot answer.
Thanks for reminding me to keep focus.

Most my high school peers seem to be dropping like flies. My oldest son has already passed. But only the good die young, so I(72) might be around yet for awhile. :undecided:

Yes, life is good, great even. We should not spoil things focusing on the end.

I don't focus on the end at all.. but I certainly *remember* those friends/family that have gone before, and what they've taught me. After all, if you don't pass on something of what you've learned to the next generation...
Oh, never mind.

tangential to the topic, I recently moved fm Mass to NY. Do I have to get a will in NY, or does the olde MASS will still work? Just thought of this while reading this thread.

No your willingness is still the same in NY as Mass

Being unrealistic that you are some day not going to stay alive is naïve. Prepare for all facets of your life or leave a mess for those who have to clean up after you are gone.
