Title: New clutch at the outer adjustment limits

I took out my G5 for its first run last week and it was great. The only issue was the clutch being pretty loose. It's a brand new clutch and I realize that the new disks make the rod fall far in and it will fall out as it wears. As of now, I'm at the maximum rod adjustment and the max cable adjustment. I have considered installing a longer bolt in the actuator arm. Any advice? Thanks!

A few questions:
1. what clutch plates are installed? SD-TEC?
2. How far recessed is the throw-out bearing outer body? This piece:

Thanks for the reply. I used the clutch kit from Stein-Dinse its been two years since I put the engine together but I believe http://www.stein-dinse.biz/Moto-Guzzi/Clutch/New-Version/Clutch-Kit-new-version-big-Model::790.html

I think that the outer bearing plunger is slightly recessed. I was concerned that I had missed a part but it has both washers and bearing attached, in good condition as in the parts drawings.

That sounds about right, but we should explore what '...slightly...' means.  How about a picture?  Can you estimate the measurement of the recess?

Yep. I've run into this issue several times when using the SD-TEC plates. I either insert a steel ball between the clutch pushrod and throw-out inner body (down inside the inner body) or make a longer pushrod.

Ill take a look into what size ball I need, I have a bin of them from the CB race bike pushrod!

I give up trying to post a picture but the plunger is in more like 9mm. I'll look and see if one of my 8mm bearings will fit.

The ball goes in the other end of this piece, the inner body:

and the hole is 6 mm.

The ball does not go in between the outer and inner bodies, only the needle bearing goes there.

Yes, thank you-I assumed so. There used to be a hardware store down the street that sold this stuff but now it's gone. I imagine I'll spend the day driving around looking for a bearing and have to order from McMaster Carr anyway.

Buy a cheap ball bearing with the size of ball you need, crush/crack the outer race in a vise and harvest the balls. That's what I have done.

Got the bearing in place. Clutch adjustments all nicely placed in the middle. Riding out to the Nortons meet at Washingtons Crossing State park tomorrow. Let's see what a few hundred miles feel like on this beast.
