Bike is a '72 Eldo with the bolt on sump drain, not like the round gear housing on the '70 Ambo. What is the center to center length of the right and left hand shock mounts on YOUR bike?
EDIT: Length is with bike on center stand. I have MY lengths with both shock on written down, but not handy right now.
I'm about 1/4" longer on the RH/ rear drive side. With 12.75" (ctr to ctr) LH only shock installed, RH ctr to ctr is 13" with NO shock.
To install a pair of 12.75" ctr to ctr (confirmed length) Koni shocks with the LH shock installed, I have to jack up the drive side to slide the RH shock on.
I believe this has been a problem on this bike since I've owned it (30 years) even though it has had a change of rear drive (orig worn out) and then a change of swing arm (had a spare with good pivot bearings).
Looking forward to YOUR ctr to ctr mounting bolt length.
Thank you,
Tom

On mine I have noticed that the distance between the two shock studs differs side to side. Not by 1/4", a lot less. To get my shocks installed, I have to whack the top of the left? shock with the heel of my hand to get it to compress a bit.

From memory - 13.5" .....

I've had this happen too. 12.5" is stock but 1/4 inch difference is a lot. The swing arm may be bent.

Thanks for the replies so far.
The uneven length has been a problem since I've owned the bike. I wore out the rear drive and changed the entire rear drive. I had the swing arm bearings go bad, so I changed out the entire swing arm.
So I guess it's just one of the quirks with the old loops. Maybe both of my rear drives had the shock mount miss-drilled? Or the shock mount on the swing arm? Maybe your supposed to use two different length shocks?
Thanks again,
Tom
