Title: Harper Auction Sept 8-9, 2016. Mike Harper collection (Lots of pics added)
Post by: Curtis Harper on April 21, 2016, 10:43:54 AM
It is already making the rally discussions, so here it is. First off, let me say. Harper's Moto Guzzi IS NOT going anywhere. We are not going out of business, we are not selling out!

But after 50+ years in the motorcycle business, retirement is finally starting to look inviting. So just as you all may have had IRAs, stocks, what have you. Mike has motorcycles. And it's time to sell them and hang out and enjoy life.

Over 300 classic and antique motorcycles will be sold by J. Wood auction company here at Harper's farm.  There will also be parts, accessories, memorabilia, classic cars and trucks, and clues to the whereabouts of Jimmy. All brands from AJS to Zundapp, No Harley and No BMW, but just about every thing else. There will be a lot of classic Single cylinder Moto Guzzis, a few twins and bikes from most every continent of the planet. For sure to be the biggest motorcycle event in the Kansas City area ever.

I will be adding more and more pics of bikes as we get them sorted out and taken.  Due to ease of picture posting, for now there is a facebook page for the pictures. At this point only about 125 bikes are put up, we have many more to go.  https://www.facebook.com/HarperMotoGuzzi/?fref=photo  so cut and paste that address or just save the date.

We will not be able to show or sell the bikes previous to the auction. Bikes listed on our website will still be for sale.  Many of you have seen this place and can attest to the insanity. Share the word, share the love, but most of all GET HERE AND SHARE YOUR CASH!

Would have thought a more professional way of displaying auction numbers would be with smaller, printed i.d. numbered badges instead of those large cut off pieces of sticky paper with scribbled numbers on them; bet they'll be fun to scrape off.
Just saying...

That's just initial cataloging numbers, and they come off easy.

Curtis, do you have an 850T that was owned by Ed Thompson of Denham Springs Cycle Center in Louisiana ? Mike would know which one I'm talking about, it had been hotrodded by someone famous in Italy whose name I can't recall right now. Ed (RIP) said it was an honest hundred and fifty mile an hour bike. I remember it had open velocity stacks on 40 mm Molasi carbs, I think. Anyway it was a special one and I always wonder where it ended up after Ed passed. I believe I'd bid on that one, especially if it's history could be somewhat verified.

Are you auctioning off Guzzi parts also?  I'm kinda sorta interested in a Mille Gt style tank.

No, we will not be auctioning off any Guzzi parts. Not many twins. A couple of loops and a carby sport 1100. And a freaky hard tail 850 t project.

Harper's Classic Bike auction September 8/9.

Well as I have been sorting, picturing and cataloging motorcycles, I have been  sticking them on a FB page for realtively easy viewing. To date we have 228 bikes cataloged. Not completely detailed, but cataloged. Have about a hundred more to go.

I have started breaking them out into albums as well. Below is a link to the Guzzi Album. It is by no means complete. There are probably another 30 pre 60's small bore bikes.

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.565846270249261.1073741836.548117062022182&type=3

Thought the masses might enjoy browsing.

Curtis what you are doing should be an indictable offense, by posting this link you are tempting an addict to do something he knows to be detrimental to his well being (or at the very least seriously piss off my wife!!)

Ok I have bit,

How does a guy stuck up here in Canada get a hold of one of those 65cc bicycles with a motor in it?

Tax return came in and its just going to go to waste on one of my kids or better half.

Will you have anybody willing to act as a proxy bidder? Is there someone you know that will for a small fee act as a proxy bidder?

Does this mean he will be hanging out on the forum providing sage advice? Or going to more rallies?

That leaves me out.  It should hold down prices for those who go.

If you fly to Kansas for it you will still have a bit if a walk. Harpers is located SE of Kansas City in Missouri.
