Title: Oil capacity with deep sump & oil-cooler
Post by: weevee on May 02, 2016, 12:36:21 PM
Hi chaps.  I'm servicing my bike.  Can anyone tell me the amount of oil I'll need for a Daytona engine fitted with a deep sump and an oil cooler?  I've read a number of posts on here saying the deep sump needs no extra oil adding - but nothing regarding both the sump and an oil cooler with its additional oil-lines.  Anyone know?

Thanks a lot
Steve

Same difference. 3 quarts or liters. Neither the cooler nor the lines will actually drain during an oil change.

Thanks for that!

Now, would anyone care to guess what these numbers relate to on the left-hand cylinder's timing-belt housing?

I'll GUESS.

It's junkyard numbers to ID the wreck that part was salvaged from.

But it's just a guess.

Belt change intervals

There's no accident damage anywhere on the bike, and that part would be unlikely to need replacing for any other reason I'd have thought, so I don't think it's from a breaker's yard.  I suppose they could relate to service/belt-change intervals - although it's not obvious from the odometer's lowly reading.  I had half an idea it may relate in some way to cams/timing?  (It's a Daytona engine mounted in a 'C' chipped Magni).

Then you'd be on the money, check factory figures may only be ref to check or someone may have changed timing and marked what they've done.

Maybe I'll drop an e-mail to Mr Magni (Jr.)  Curiosity, that's all!
