Title: Security chain tie down location - Breva 1100

For those who may prefer to anchor their bike inside a garage, is there a good location to run a security chain that goes through the frame? It seems there are not to many locations that are accessible enough that allow a security chain to go through the frame. I heard this is better than chaining through just the tires or forks.

Running the chain through the wheels should be pretty effective.   It is kind of hard to roll away a 550lb motorcycle that is missing one or both wheels.

Unless, of course, the thief has been casing your place, and knew to bring CARC wheels along.

I gotta think that it is quicker to just cut the chain than swap wheels, esp. the front.

Perhaps you need a watch cat.  Many people would like a jaguar in the garage.

If the Breva (like the Norge) has that nifty and unexplained hollow space at the center of gravity (it's actually used in manufacturing) then you could run a chain through that - of course, getting it through the hole is sort of like pushing string!

Its a Guzzi. You can leave the keys in the ignition and nobody will fool with it.

This may sound stupid but if it were me I would just run the chain through the center stand.  Have you tried to take one of those off in a hurry?  Practically speaking, if they have enough tools and time to get a chain off of the center stand they have everything they need to cut the chain and make any more secure mounting that might scratch your bike useless anyway.

Yeah, but then you'd have to also get a second one to keep in the shop.

And thank you for the center stand idea, [atavar]. It's an area you don't have to worry about scratching as you drag a chain through it.

You could maybe even get a big hulking lock that would clamp around the centerstand leg and make it easy.
