Title: Technology gone wild

In the news, a Tesla self parked itself into and partly under a flatbed trailer. Reports are the owner was not in the car, having parked and exited when the Tesla decided it could to a better job.

It did. It made enough room for someone else to park behind it.

Supposedly, Tesla's have collision avoidance technology. Too bad that doesn't know about the self parking feature.

When you read about these things it is a reminder not to park your motorcycle in from of or behind a car with self park.

How does one determine if a car has "self park"?

So the self-park SUMMON "feature" parked it into the ass-end of a trailer?  Hmmm........

Sounds useful.

To the park in style!

Woof Woof bark activation app included. Now you can send your pampered pooch to the park by himself and the car will wait for him to do his business before returning.

It's in "Beta Testing", so I'll bet another sensor that's aimed a little higher will be on the upgrade punch list!  LOL!

Judging by the way so many people park, seems they all have self parking features.

Something doesn't sound right with this story. My boss has a Tesla with the latest self driving/parking s/w. Currently the only parking it does is in reverse in between two cars that are parked parallel to each other.

Not sure about the summons feature. I haven't seen that used yet.

Regardless, it just goes to show you that all this automation only works within the limitations of the sensors and software and you really don't know when the limits are going to be reached.

They just can't concentrate on making the car more efficient.  They have to resort to gimmicks that will go wrong.
