For anyone who may be in the market, there's a "1975" (built in 75, sold & titled in 76) T3 that has been languishing on Craigslist for quite awhile in the Northern VA suburbs of DC. (www.washingtondc.cr aigslist.org/nva/mcy/5536574805). I'm not in the market myself - no space in the garage for what I've already got - but I went to look at it since I go to a gym nearby.
I don't know what a good price for one of these is, but my gut feeling is that his price ($4,000)pushes the upper limit of what they are going for recently. On the other hand, he's done a ton of work on it, almost all of it listed in the Craigslist ad except that he forgot to mention that he rebuilt the front forks & put new Konis on the rear. Cosmetically, the tank & side panels have been recently repainted with what appears to be a good job done.
I don't think that this bike is a candidate for a quick detailing & flip for a profit unless the buyer has a ton of stock small parts handy to bring it back to 100% stock, but for somebody who wants a T3 to keep & ride it looks like it could be a pretty decent buy.
Unfortunately, I couldn't test ride it because it was up on a lift, but he reports that it runs, shifts & rides fine - that would be a contingent condition to consider if buying it.
The guy works for a local Harley dealer, I think as a mechanic, & is big into rebuilding older BMWs, so he knows his way around a wrench, but he admits that he isn't a MG expert.
Anyway, I thought I'd throw this out to the mob. If he still has it at the end of the summer, I may just throw some stuff away in my garage & make room for it myself...
