Title: EV steering head bearings
Post by: fatbob on May 17, 2016, 09:29:28 PM
So if your steering head bearings feel good, no play, no noise, just seem like they did 50,000 miles ago when the bike was new, would you change em anyway?  Anybody go that long on the original bearings?

If it's weighing on your mind then clean and inspect them. If it has been a long time some fresh grease would be good even if the bearings are ok.

Thanks guys, yes it is a cumbersome job.  I suppose I need to take it all apart and inspect them.

Got over 125,000 miles on my 98 EV. Haven't done anything to the bearings except tighten them about 80,000 mile ago. Can't remember why. Beautiful light steering is still like new.
