Hi all. I feel the need to reiterate some things here due to a rash of several nasty emails I've received in the past few days. I'll spare you the details.
1. This is not a Corporation. This discussion board is non-profit. There are no board members. There are no salaries. There are no perks.
2. We are not affiliated with Piaggio, Moto Guzzi, HD, Yamaha, etc...
3. The Admins and moderators here do so out of the kindness of their hearts, and with little recognition I might add.
4. Just because someone donates to the forum, does not give them the right to pretend they are part owner and decision makers.
5. We really try to run a clean place, fit for the whole family. We let people push our buttons a lot. But come on now, we're all adults here. If you wouldn't say it in person, don't type it.
6. If you are not happy here, please move on. I've did it this way for close to 20 years and if you're waiting around for a change...
7. Thanks again to the 99.999% members who enjoy their time here. You are the reason we exist.
Safe riding,
Luap McKeever

Spot on! Thanks to Luap and all the Mod Squad, or more appropriately Squadra dei Moderatori Guzzi!
-
Wholeheartedly agree. This forum has been a pleasure since I have joined the Guzzi world. Many thanks to the moderators and helpful forum members.
-
I belong in read quite a few motorcycle forums. This one happens to be one of the best. It's a very helpful group of very like-minded people. Thank you to all that contribute your valuable time.
-
I simply wish to add my thanks and admiration. This forum is exceptional.

Thanks Luap
Where would us 99.99 percenters be without you , the forum and the mods
-
Yep, for sure, thanks. Great place to melt the edges off.
-
Thank you. Truly.
As for certain behavior, some folks just want to ARGUE, just for the SAKE of disagreement. I don't understand that.
Except that conversation is a dance, and lots of people don't know how to dance. They are only waiting for you to stop talking, so they can continue to say what they were saying before. Such folks rarely know how to listen, and their stories are always the most boring. Once you get an ear for it, you see it EVERYWHERE.

Thanks Luap for keeping the board going, for most of us I think it feels like a very welcoming community :)

post the whiner commentsso the rest of us can see what you are dealing with.

Luap,
Thank you for building and maintaining such a GREAT site, I can only imagine how much of a pain in the a$$ it must be to administer such a large and diverse group of responses.
To the moderators, thank you for keeping the site as even as balanced as it is, not a job I would be want to tackle and one that is usually overlooked and not respected.
I really, really appreciate all the knowledge and support this site offers, without it I would be back toiling in the dark spaces of Yamaha and Honda.

Just a couple or three points . First , there are some misconceptions here , the rule says "no politics", and while we miss some things , there is no effort to take sides , heck , truth is there is disagreement within the four of us that try to keep this thing going . We all get along because we choose to , and respect each other's opinions , but mostly we avoid the topic when in each other's company . Second, what Luap has created here is amazing , a site that reaches around the globe , and includes doctors , lawyers , business men , medical pros , a couple of college professors , some scientists , engineers , chefs , more than a few pro level mechanics and techs (bless you guys) , a couple of philosophers , IT guys , inventors , racers , high mileage road warriors , re-entry riders , folks just getting started in our sport/hobby/obsession , probably every race/religion/culture on the planet , plumbers , electricians , statisticians , obstetricians , morticians, pilots , professional OTR truckers , drivers of grocery trucks , (thanks Jeff) and a couple of reprobate nail benders . Why does this list matter , well , we are a very diverse group that manages to get along , because we choose to .
Thanks

I belong to several different forums - I like this one the best, what's not to like?
Keep up the good work and THANK YOU!

I peruse several forums. I appreciate the general tone & helpfulness of this site. The tone of several sites degraded to the point where I simply moved on as it seemed to be nothing but criticism and zingers. Not even thoughtful or intelligent criticism & zingers.
In short, thanks.

I would not own my Norge if it wasn't for this site. And my Norge would not be personalized/farkled as nicely as it is if it wasn't for this site. I don't thank every one enough. So...Thank you, thank you, thank you and thank you! And if I missed anybody? Thank you too!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. You all make it easy to remember why we do this.
-
Dusty said it short and sweet. We get along because we choose to.
Good choice, everyone.
And thanks, Luap

Yes, WG is by far the best bike forum, you are appreciated.

I'd just like to offer my genuine thanks to those who make this forum run and maintain it, and to the vast majority of members who also make the interaction on here friendly, genuinely helpful and positive. It made a big difference to me "re-discovering" Moto Guzzi the third time around recently with my Breva 1200 2V, with some great tips and info on things to look out for and what's also so great about ownership, when I asked the questions on this site.
So to all that bring such a positive, passionate energy to the shared enjoyment (and occasional challenge) of life with a Moto Guzzi, i say thanks
Cheers

Hi Luap. I've never met you and likely never will, nor for that matter Old Bike, given that I live half a world away. I do however know common sense when I hear it. Thanks for all you guys do. I very rarely post yet reading this forum is a daily ritual and part of the fabric of my life. Long may its spirit live.

And, a big thank you from me for all the work you do Luap and Moderators. W.G. is actually the only site that I partake of, not just Guzzi stuff but a whole range of various topics, and have got to know a whole heap of good people along the way.
Thanks again Team. :thumb:

Damnyankee, very nice pics!!
And a big thank you for having a site to be able to post pics like that!!

Thanks for putting up with the hassles, Luap. I like the 'small town' feel of the group, as well as the expertise and wackiness. When I sell my bike, I will sell only for cash, except to a known person from this group from whom I would accept a personal check (or maybe even an IOU!) Hard to develop trust on the internet, but this group has it going.
-
Just piling on, I realize, but it's still worth saying formally. thank you.

A dream of mine. Hopefully within a few years. I'd like to ride around Northern Italy and into Switzerland and Austria. My family is from a town near Genoa.
-
Deep gratitude to Luap and the moderators for keeping the campfire civil.
If you wouldn't say it in person, don't type it.
Words to live by in any venue. Unhappily, there are folks who think that being rude in person is "keeping it real."
-

If you plan to ride northern Italy ya gotta remember that roads up there are not always open. Stelvio is a good example, open from June to September so if that's your plan, check your dates. After I rented the Stelvio from Agostini in 2012 and rode from Mandello to Barrea and back, I asked about renting a smaller bike for a trip down Stelvio...No, it is October and Stelvio is not open, snow ya know
PS...trust me, there is no shortage of great motorcycle roads in Italy, actually Europe in general. Some very challenging but also very beautiful scenery and history, a photographers dream :)

Thanks Luap! I was going to suggest that those Americans that haven't donated funds to help you run the forum should do so but the last time I did that I got a lot of negative posts. Seems words are cheaper.

I'll chime in with Tom. The Guzzi (and other) knowledge I've garnered here is priceless.. but being a cheap Guzzi guy  I just give a small donation every year.

I've had situations in the past and had nowhere to turn but this site.It is invaluable to me having these mysterious bikes and being able to get answers here. Thank you.

I like the fact that you can confirm something on Guzzi that you're trying fix.

Thanks to all that provide this experience. The knowledge and help I receive from this site is fantastic!
Thank you!

Sorry about the thread drift, I just get carried away. My point was, the longevity of WG forum says a lot about it.

Best motorcycle forum on the web. Period.

Luap, when I read your original post my reaction was one of mild sadness. Sadness that you felt the need to write that post. You must have been having some 'unfun' of late.
There can not be many that are unaware of the debt I owe to people on this site, nor how grateful I was and am for their help, even though that project has yet to reach full fruition, sadly.
There are times when I have either not agreed or simply not understood an executive decision on the board. Only once I think did I become so angry I came close to walking away. That instance I think it was the way I was spoken to rather than the issue itself. The board though is still here , and those decisions are after all not mine to make.
What Luap and the others do here works, and while we may have moved a little way out from the campfire, it continues to work. , I value it. Long may it continue.
