Title: Optimate by Tecmate battery charger and saver
Post by: BertoGuzzi17 on May 19, 2016, 05:57:26 PM
I'm considering purchasing an Optimate for my V7 II.
Even thou the battery is new I feel good knowing that when I am not riding it for a few days there is a battery guardian watching over the bike for me.

I wanted to see if anybody on the board uses such a product and if they think it might be worth the investment.

Thanks

If the battery drains down after a few days, something is wrong.

Same if after a couple of weeks.

Save your money, get one of those portable lithium batteries that you can take with you, best bet.

Don't run around lugging the engine or let it sit with ignition on not running.

Check it once in a while or install a VM so you can see ow it's doing. If you let it sit for a longer time and see it needs a jolt, give it a charge using a high quality bike charger but don't let it sit in a trickle charger.

It's like leaving the TV on for it so it doesn't feel lonely . . .

Sorry, gotta disagree here.  We use 20 Battery Tenders and like the Optimate they are not trickle chargers.
Have not purchased a battery for any of the moto toys since 2001 when we started using them.

If you have a good battery, why do you need a charger?
