Wait , what ? Oh , wrong Rossi , sorry :embarrassed:

Yeah, this Rossi looks nothing like the Valentino version, but they're both winners. :boozing:

Pretty dam cool!

Was kinda rooting for Andretti but wasn't his day. Hope he gets it someday while his dad is watching.

Hard to believe Marco came up in 2006 , the kid is a veteran now . The Andrettis have become the first family of open wheel racing in America . I met Michael in Dallas about 1984 , struck me as much different than the public perception of being aloof . Seemed almost shy , but in the 5 minute conversation we had , he warmed up and actually became a friendly easy going guy

I really liked Michael, but not so much the old man. Every problem he ever had on the track was somebody else's fault. The new kid I don't know about. Congrats to Rossi, even if I don't like races won on fuel mileage.

 I remember when Michael tried Formula 1 and he spun out on the warm-up lap!
Alexander Rossi has tried to break into F1 and has driven in a few races, hopefully this win will help open some doors for him.

Indy feels more and more about fuel management and luck with caution flag timing these days. I think they need to do something about it but not sure what. Maybe not count laps under caution. I don't know but I don't think Rossi was the best driver or had the best car on the track that day.

I'll give you that for this years Indy. But the last few years have been extreamly competitive and some Very close finishes! But I get where you are coming from. They need to find a way to do away with fuel milage races. For one, I think they should take the ability to lean out a motor away from the teams. You get what you get, now lets go racing!

the race had everything. Passing, drama, strategy. Rossi came around on the last lap just coasting. Got this one of him.

Thanks John :thumb:
To all of you complaining about this turning into a fuel mileage race , how do you propose they fix that ? Make all of the cars stop with 10 laps to go and fuel up ? Add another 20 gallons of fuel capacity ? Racing has always been about strategy and not just raw speed . Besides , Rossi's race manager/engineer , whatever they call that person , took a huge risk by not pitting , he could have finished 20th if he had run out of fuel 2 miles earlier .

I like late models on dirt tracks. Lots of action, mostly up to the driver, nobody runs out of fuel. You spend a lot of time rubbing fenders not in a straight line and you better know how to drive. The cars aren't glued down with aero.

I much prefer Sprint Cars and Flat Track motorcycles on dirt. But that's just me.
I prefer the Indy 500 to any type of 4 wheel racing because it's "the Greatest Spectacle in Racing".

how do you get fuel mileage running 200 miles an hour?
how can you coast down the straightaways with clutch disengaged at Indy?

It was pretty exciting seeing the car just coasting around the track with a couple of laps to go.
