Title: Murphy's Law strikes again.
Post by: Farmer Dan on June 01, 2016, 10:15:48 PM: Had to drive to Portage to get saddlebag keys from the Harley Dealer there, nice day so I took the Eldorado. Normally I don't like taking the bike on the expressway but I didn't have much time and it was a really nice day. Passing a semi-truck on I94 doing 80mph and the bike started cutting out. Made it to the shop and limped back home with the bike acting up all the way. Turns out the connections at the side of the distributor had worked loose. Tightened them up and replaced the AC 63 plugs with new NGK BP6ES plugs and went for a test drive. Bike was running great and it was another nice day....then it started raining. So I parked the Eldo in the garage again and went inside were it is safe and dry to watch TV for a while. All things considered it was a exciting day.

I put them on because my Dad always wanted them when it was his bike. They grow on you after awhile I guess.

On most bikes they look silly , but somehow on a loop the dang goofy things work . Kinda like Brooklands cans on a 30's Brit bike .

I tied a big speaker magnet to the end of a wood broom stick, use it to pickup stuff that falls into the cracks or stuff I can't see. Oils spills are easy, they just soak in a disappear LOL.

Last night l see water on the flour. So I turn off the pump and go to bed. This morning I look it over and luckily the fitting on the water heater wasn't tight and I got it back on without taking it apart and getting drenched.

Anyway, I am up on Lake Michigan and the Antenna for my TV doesn't work.

So I go up on the roof and take it apart and see the coax is broken from the connector. So I ride the EV to Menards in South Haven MI to pick up a cheapo soldering iron. On my way back I have oil all over my left boot, yep it's the left side valve gasket. I get back to the trailer, Bev has gone to do laundry and the lock is stuck and I can't get it. My tools are in the truck with Bev. I check my phone and find a Guzzi dealer in Grand Rapids (that's close) and call, no gasket there..

Well, crap.

With some body english I get the door open to the trailer. I look in the tank bag and I have an allen wrench (gift from AL Harris) that fits the valve cover. I open it up and the gasket is fine! It just must've gotten loose. I put it back together, ride it and no leaks.

Then Bev gets back with the tools and I climb back on the roof. And I screw around trying to solder coax. The copper goes on OK but the braid attaches with a couple of strands. Bev says we have signal, so I say WTF. (sorry Dusty). I can get a couple of stations in Chicago.

Close enough.

drinking a Pabst and chased with a Coors Light

Got to jog on the beach on Lake Michigan and then up down the roof 3 or 4 times. I guess that's enough for a 62 year older.

ANd the original post was from a fellow in MIchigan. Dang it, must be in the water.

I agree with both. I love wooden floors in workshops, something just *feels* right about it.

(BTW... how do you do that nifty grey-highlighted quotation thing?)

Look in the upper right corner of the post you want to quote and you'll see a little icon and the word "quote" just click on that.
