Title: 2002 EV starter
Post by: moltoguzzi on June 09, 2016, 06:58:12 AM
This morning I believe my starter went, last few days it felt the starting was weak, today I stopped for gas a few miles from home on my way to Americade and she won't start, battery seems ok with no dimished lighting. Is there on over the counter replacement starter by any chance for a quick fix and still make Americade.
Thanks to all replies.

Did you try whacking the solenoid with a hammer as you pushed the starter button?  Sometimes a sticky one can be overcome that way.  I use a rock, since I don't carry a hammer on the bike.  A sharp, lively rap as the button is pressed will do the trick if the trick will be done.

If it responds to the whack, it might be a candidate for cleaning out and lubing.  That could be done at your destination or a roadside camp along the way.

:1:  also have your battery load test checked.  They can do that at most places that sell batteries.
