Title: Eldorado Saddlebag Update
Post by: Farmer Dan on June 10, 2016, 01:56:32 PM
Took some serious searching but I did find the correct Harley Davison  XLH hard bags with mounts and a set of keys.  A little work with the lathe making spacers and mig welding some brackets and all is good and solid.  Thanks to all those that helped me with this project.  Ready for the Gilmore show in Hickory Corners now.  Hope to see some of you there Sunday.

While I'm at the bike show Sunday I will try to find somebody that does pin stripping and get it done.  Or buy the tape and do it myself which ever comes first

I'd suggest looking for that person at a gentlemen's forum club -- if seeing a stripped pin appeals to you.  I'm of the opinion that nobody wants to see that.  :boozing:<-----mus be at the 2-srink minimum

Seriously though -- you know you wanted those bags black.  Aren't you glad it was the right answer?

I agree that a little stripe in the right places would help show off the lines.  On the bags, perhaps a 1/4" simple band around the lid base.  Using your finger as an anchor at the lid edge (or following any contour), you'd be amazed how easy it is to lay pinstripe tape.  The best part is that the tape is quite inexpensive and removes easily until you get it right.  I plan to doodle with tape on my tank at campsites during my trip.  I don't see any downside to it.  The worst that can happen is someone who really does know the art will take pity on me and stripe it out of my misery.
