Perusing motorcycle section on CL this morning, and saw this.
I didn't think it is possible to spend 33 large on a Beemer:)

Price out a loaded GTL1600. It's probably closing in on $35K.
-
$29k is over the top for a GS. New, they are a little less than that, starting at about $17k. I recently priced one at a little over $20k, loaded.

The big GTL 6-cylinder "Exclusive" lists for over $30k, though.

BMW aims for the older, more affluent rider who has money to spend and is attracted to all the gadgetry like they more than likely have on their expensive cars as well.

Geez fellas , W/O all those gadgets what will the guys down at starbucks have to talk about ?
Classic case of more money than brains , and I'm a fan of beemers

I took the Ambassador out for a ride on a Missouri county road this morning. A fawn & his mom saw me coming and ducked into the forest. I would not have had a better experience on that BMW...
Just sayin'
-
I'd bet a fair bit of that is the money paid to Bob's BMW for the installation of those accessories. I don't consider that a recoverable cost when selling.
-
But but but, it's got a nav system AND a gps the guy must get lost alot

Here is the Guzzi equivalent. $18k 09 Stelvio anyone?

I get the more money than brains part, but after all the added personalized gadgets, he rode it less miles than some of you guys do for one rally!

Like I said , more money than brains  Kind of like the guy that changed his HD exhaust several times over one Summer . Don't remember the number of changes per mile , seems like the ratio was 5 different systems over 600 miles . Delrod did some math , something like $1,000.00 dollars spent to ride 800 miles

An eternal optimist!
-
Another misguided soul thinking the "value" is the sum total spent more or less.
A lot of times they take the tack of "I'm providing it complete so you don't have to" more than "I want all my money back". Unfortunately for them, they don't take into account that most folks dig conducting mods & upgrades themselves. Not to be confused with: "I want full cost credit for my MG hydro/flat tappet/chrome bore MANDATORY corrections".

Starbucks and BMWs must be different up here. I've yet to see anything other than the occasional hipster pirate wannabe parked at a Starbucks. For one thing, the coffee is terrible
-
:1: They're usually parked at a bar on a Sunday.
-
That's one GS I'd like the thrash until an inch of it's life. Through rocks, mud and water. Just smash the crap out of it like it was made for.
-
All that crap and money spent for riding 3000 miles. "Short Way Around"?
-

John,
He actually got the Nav V system and the GPS prep. Both are required to allow the wonder wheel to control the system. I think he's asking wayyyyyyy to much but thought I would clarify this issue.
