Title: Confessions of a Closet Guzzi Guy....
Post by: Cool Runnings on June 12, 2016, 04:40:02 PM
Some of the most enjoyable riding is on my Vespa cruising the parkway at 25mph with sunglasses, swimsuit, t-shirt and sandals. Stop for swim, a cup of java, a pastry and then head home. :boozing:

Oh hell yes! My CT Honda was the bee's knees for low intensity fun around the lakes in Minneapolis!

I just checked out a 49cc Yamaha 'ruckus-type' step-thru for a friend.  She bought it and she took it out to the end of the road and back at 40mph.  Now she only weighs a little bit more than her helmet, so it's maybe not a fair top speed to hold a 49cc bike up to, but as long as she assists cars in making safe passes in those few instances where she'll be in a 45 zone, she should survive it.  I escorted her on the test ride and it looked like it would hold up.

Anything that gets you rolling on two wheels, I say.

You get up to that kind of speed on 10" wheels and it can feel pretty scary!     At least on something like my Razz 50 Yamaha scooter.

My name is rudolf 35 and I am a closet scooter lover.

Back in 2003-6 I had a gig less than 1.5 miles from the casa; it made no sense to use my "heavy" bikes and even less sense to use my Jeep. So, a Strella 150cc was the ticket. As long as I keept it in it's performance envelop it was great. In the DfW area the average highway speed is 75mph +, so the Strella was limited to backroad and neighborhood duty; boy did it shine in that enviroment.

I am out of the Guzzi closet, but I have never confessed to anyone that I have always wanted one of these

Recently ended up with a Kymco People 150, got it for nearly nothing.  A little abused but runs and rides perfectly.

Gonna sell off some of my old Brit stuff, gonna buy more scooters.  So much fun.

Some of my best rides have been on the good, old trusty 1985 PX150E! It will cruise at 50 mph all day, and after I put on a Scoot-50 Slipstreamer windscreen, with no wind blowing, it will easily sustain 55 mph, with about 5 mph remaining in the throttle. It is my vehicle of choice to commute to work every day.

Had my Stella and her Vespa ET4 for 12 years now.

Funny, the Stella has been more reliable and less expensive to run. It competes more with my bicycle for attention than other motorcycles, but I think those older type Vespa/Stellas are fantastic designs.

Does doing 42mph on my pushbike down the Port Hills count?

10!!!!!! I think I got up to about 8. Wheezing like an old grampus, surprised you couldn't hear me over there.

Must admit that my mate who was a much better athlete than me, with a much lighter bike, rode rings around me. However, going down it was the only time I ever beat him. When he finally caught up he politely suggested I was perhaps, bonkers. :thumb:

My CTX1300 is my confession. . Big V-4 lounge chair.  Guzzistas tend to hate them . I love it.

We have a pair of scooters in the garage - more grins per mile than just about anything (helicopters come in first for me)

Here's the Angeles Crest Helix at something over 7500' having fun..

And one of the wife with her BV-350 heading up to Santa Barbara with me.

BTW, I'd love to have that Guzzi moped.
