Anyone thinking about this make sure it has had the gearbox recall done back in the mists of time.

A friend of mine has one of those. Sounds better in person than in the video. :thumb:

He ended up doing that recall Pete made reference to. I recall it took him some time to source the part(s) for the transmission, and of course the cost was his. OTOH, he has a really cool bike. He was with his buddy when it was purchased new. Many years later, his buddy offered it to him and he got the bike.

I knew someone who put a turbo on his benelli 6. ran and sounded incredible right up until it blew sky high...

We had one on the floor when I worked for the dealer in Seattle.  The owner's favorite trick was to place a light cigarette on its end on the tank and start the bike, run it up, and shut it off without getting much of a wiggle in the smoke.  It was impressive, but I don't know that it sold any bikes.

Head on I always thought it looked like it t-boned a harmonica.

Good for looking at and like music for listening to but they had a notoriously fragile transmission even after having the recall done.

One just sold on Bring-A-Trailer for $10750.00 and it was nowhere near this pretty. This one should get way more than that.

I know that bike. Originally came from the Detroit area, was built by a GM employee. Not only was it turbo'ed, but also stroked and bored to 1047 cc IIRC. It had alcohol injection to control detonation, it ran dry and boom!

A few years ago a gentleman contacted me about resurrecting one 900 Sei from the two basketcase bikes he had bought. One of them was the turbo. Unfortunately it was going to cost way more than he had anticipated, so he ended up selling them on eBay.

I reached out to the owner, I would love to own that bike but it's out of my reach, he is asking $18K.

Hmmm.  It's a fancy Honda 500/4+2 that didn't sell at $5k new . . . not sure where asking four prices used is going to take him.
