Had a chance to ride this T3 this past weekend -- What a cool bike !
This one is a 1978 model with floorboards, "T3-FB". My friend in Missouri mechanically restored it and cleaned it all up. He might eventually repaint it too.
Thought you might like to see it -- I thought it turned out really great --

Nice! I was about to ask the identity of that unusual-looking fairing on it in the first picture, but then I looked closer!

MGrego, where in MO might your friend be? Anywhere near St. Louis/St. Charles?

No, Central Missouri -- But I think the bike may have come from around St. Louis in the past year or so...

The orangy paint looks good enough to me from the distance the pics were taken. What is the story with the black mufflers?

Black spray-paint, the chrome mufflers underneath were beyond hope......

I see. The black actually looks pretty good, too bad it is hard to keep the paint on long term. For the cost of new ones I could live with the painted mufflers.

I shot this lovely 850-T3 at the New Mexico Rally, Datil, August 2014. It's a beauty and I have always liked this model, especially when sorted like this. Well done! :thumb:

I like the solo look. I've done a few early tonti's that way.
Who's the guy sneaking up on it with the pepper spray?

T-3 are hard to beat. Bought this one in 1989. They are wonderful around rides.

LOL! Not pepper spray, but detail spray, and that was the owner from New Mexico. He is very fastidious when it come to his bikes....

MGrego,
Nice looking rig...
Can you or the owner give an idea how comfortable that seat is...? I just looked at one on the MGNOC classifieds and I am thinking about getting it for the T-3 project that I have going.
Thanks,
Rob

I found the seat to be really comfortable, (and I think it looks cool too). I'm not sure where the solo seat pan came from, but it was recently rebuilt. Overall I found the ergonomics of the bike to be really comfortable, I think Guzzi really struck a good riding position on this model. As far as the solo seat goes, one could argue you have less room to move around than on the standard seat, but as neutral as the riding position is, I don't think that would be much of an issue.
Good luck with your T3 project, let us know how it turns out !

Looks great! The solo seat really changes the look of the T3, for the better IMHO.

IIRC, the bike was designed with input from the CA Highway Patrol for marketing for police contracts. Which subsequently resulted in a number of contracts in the U.S.. (Arizona, CA, Washington etc.)
