I talked yesterday with the good folks at moto machines and it looks as if they will have the C-Bow system available for the Eldorado very soon. We also taked about us test fitting the c-bow on one of our Audace's.

Thank you for the info.

Sweet!
That's the way I'd go for C14 luggage!

The picture and part number listing is on the H-B German site tonight:

Looks like H-B will get my money rather than Moto Guzzi!

I don't forget, for $57 you can add mounts to just about any bags to mount them.

This would be a convenient way to mount an pair of Bucos, Wixoms or other vintage bags to just about any bike.

Jay, that looks like $57 for only one?

You are correct.
You'd think I'd have remembered, considering that I bought and am using a pair of them.

The hard bags from Guzzi should be available in the next week or two. So says my parts rep!
-
That would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.
I've been wanting to hand them a grand for nearly a year.

If they had a hard bag version, I would probably jump in!

In reality, with the adapter that someone has a link to in this thread, any hard bag with a flat surface on the back could be used

I've just ordered the adaptors to hopefully fit my H&B 40 litre bags, originally purchased for my beloved California Anniversary '97. I'll let you know how they work out.

There may be an issue with larger heavy bags bouncing around on the C-Bows. Just not as much support as traditional HB mounts. I definitely wouldn't mount the 1400 Touring bags on that system.

It's got to be better than the hideous system Guzzi offered for the CARC bikes, straight off an Aprilia Futura. I lost two bags (not at the same time) despite the bags being "clicked" on, and the safety latch engaged. After the second time, I went straight to the H&B 30 litre juniors.

Cam, no way you could use the factory bags anyway. Very contoured on the back side. I get what you're saying though

The brackets are on the US site!

Anybody gotten a set yet??

Should have them before the end of the week. Just received shipping information

To elaborate a bit, now that there is an end in sight. I placed an order the moment there was a valid part number for some kind of bags and brackets for the 1400 Eldo. As of today, I recieved shipping confirmation, with a tracking number, that the C Bow mounts and 35L Buffalo bags have been shipped from the Importer, (Moto Machines), and are due to arrive at my dealer within a couple days. I will certainly have them mounted up this weekend at the latest and will post pictures. I'm looking forward to using them in the upcoming weeks.
It has been a long, long, looooooong wait!
What will I do if Guzzi actually comes through at some point? I'm really not sure. I might try to obtain what the MIGHT offer. But, a bird on the hand and all that............... ..........

What I posted before about OEM hard bag mounts being available soon, It looks like that became a big negatory and sounds like it isn't going to. The bags for the Cal's finally became available again.

One has to be careful with the homemade luggage option in that the C-Bow system cannot haul much weight. They limit your load to 10 pounds per bag, and the C-Bow bags themselves are about 4 pounds and less, so under 15 pounds gross weight per side. With careful planning one can have a lot of options, though. And regardless of weight, if the container you use is bulky, the wind at higher speeds adds load that could cause weight related damage.
Also, the mounting surface for that DIY bracket needs to be very flat if the case is naturally stiff or the bracket will deform preventing a successful mounting to the tack on the bike. I learned this with a set of Mutazu cases. Worked fine, but just a wee bit of curve on the case caused a very tight fit on the bike mounted rack. Skip Mutazu, those boxes are crap. And my riding buddy told me they were flapping in the wind at highway speeds. Not the case with C-Bow bags.
I'd thought about moving to Seahorse 520 boxes (6lb each) or 540 (8lb each), but decided not too for the weight and bulky, air-catching size. Still a lighter case than comparable size Pelican cases. See Caseclub.com for a ton of case options, but be careful for my reasons above. If C-Bow had a triangulated mounting system bigger cases and heavier loads would be possible, but I don't think that is the target market for C-Bow, anyway, unlike HB Juniors, etc. Anyway, in the end I just replaced the homemade with real C-Bow cases and the world is right again. Looks better than my homemade efforts. Great bags.
Steve.
