Title: Norge GT8 Valve Adjust - How Much Body Work To Remove?
Post by: Dave Swanson on June 21, 2016, 05:02:45 PM
I tried googling this for awhile and gave up.   I am sure it's been covered many times before but.  My Norge is close to needing the first service interval and will be diving in this weekend.

How much of the plastic must be removed to do a valve adjust?  The manual says to remove the fuel tank but I am assuming that is not necessary? (I hope).

I have the tank lifted a bit, but I like room so I strip the bike. I take the dash pockets off and undo the bottom post into gromet w/tiewrap by the head pipe. You will need the panels off for sync TB. You have to open the little black door on side panel to find a screw, opens like a vent.
Good luck w/it, much better than the 2V set-up

If all you are doing is adjusting the valves, all you need to remove are the triangular air scoops behind the cylinder heads.  3 screws on each one. -- No big deal. Once the valve covers are off you won't have any trouble with access to adjust the valves. No need to do anything with the tank.

I will be checking the TB sync also.

You have some means to reset the TPS I assume?

Yes, Guzzidiag.

Make sure you do not touch the sacred screw.  A good tutorial on Guzzitech CARC bike's section on adjusting throttle body balance. When you reset TPS with Guzzidiag make sure you clear learning parameters.  I recommend doing the high speed balance at 4,000 rpm and then set the idle balance.  Make sure you start high speed balance with the idle air bleeds closed or screwed in.
You are looking at one lower panel on the R side and two panels on the left as far as removal to do the balance. Best to do trans oil at same time because the R side panel need to come off.
