Don't you consider this should be a must in every stock Guzzi? :boozing:

That's a hillbilly shock oil reservoir!
-
Extra engine oil or Number 2 bottle if live in New York, finding a bathroom is a challenge sometimes.
-
Jug of yak fat???
-
Corn Oil? It's a great rear end lubricant.
-
I just duct tape a bottle of Wild Irish Rose across the handle bars .
-
"Dispensing device of very complex water" - or perhaps 'very complex water dispensing device' is a better translation.

Hey now, this is a family friendly forum....

Can someone please explain what would prompt anyone to strap something that is going to interfere with its performance to a shock absorber? Especially on a machine that already has very marginal suspension! It doesn't make much sense to me.
There is something very wrong with the exhaust too, is it? It seems to be wrapped on dirty bandages!
Pete

I'm pretty sure that's an automatic mirror cleaner. When you hit a bump it will squirt cleaning juice and keep your mirrors spotless. Or you can point them backwards and clean the cars headlights tailgating you. Brilliant. Where can I order some?
-
It seems like mounting to his helmet with a long tube and a bite valve might be a better alternative.

Didn't notice that it was mounted TO the shock, thought it was above.
And if a tail pipe is in that bad a shape, replace it! Bandages won't help!!!

Those aren't bandages - those are the 'exo-header sound dampening fabric' that give the Franconi pipes such a unique sound!

I'm hate to say it, but those wraps to me look fugley. I understand what they are supposed to do and help with, still don't like the looks on "any" bike when not "needed".
LOL!

They don't achieve anything apart from adding astonishing ugliness! I suppose the theory is that by keeping the exiting gasses hotter they will exit quicker promoting better scavenge? Needless to say wth a system where the exhaust tract performs a 90* turn immediately above the exhaust valve this theory holds about as much water as a colander that has been blasted with buckshot but there's no keeping logic or the laws of physics in the equation any more than there is trying to stand between a hipster and his beard grooming products and vegan skinny soy latte!

For small-blocks only...

In reality it makes no difference on any motor. Well, it does if you're a wanker but not otherwise.
If you want to do it because you think it's 'Cool'? Fine, but you're still a wanker.

You know Pete I agree with you, its all about "perception" these days not reality. Wrapping headers was originally a hot rod thing for keeping under hood temps down and was also used on 2 stroke race bikes on the primary section of the expansion chambers to change the chamber temp and have an effect on the exhaust gas temps and so the exhaust tuning.
Its effect on a modern 4 stroke engine would be zero as can be seen by the fact that nobody at the cutting edge of normally aspirated performance 4 strokes ever does it.
I can tell you though that it makes life hard on the mufflers, so if anyone out there has carbon cans wrapping the headers will shorten their life span.
The kicker came for me when a few years ago on a Ducati forum a guy ceramic coated his $7000 aftermarket Desmosedici full titanium exhaust system because he didn't like all those TIG welds and bluing pipes!!!! Should have the bike confiscated I say :police:
The shock bottle is a wank as is the mat black cylinders and heads and of course the header wrapping.
The rest of the bike is actually very nice though I think as is the photography. Maybe one of the best looking small blocks I have seen.
Ciao

Some highlights:
-im a wanker.
-its a poser bike.
-heat wrap Is ugly and useless.
-its not attached TO the shock. That would be (even more) absurd.
This said, just kidding. I work with leather and vinyl so this is easy to do. Water canteen has 2 big holes in the rear part to fit the shock top, so can't be refilled. Only a posing part for posing photos, don't take it too serious :)
Like the mood in this forum :)

It's the World Wide Web. You want to build a *pretty* shitter? That's fine. Just don't expect people who actually like shit that works to genuflect. It's not going to happen.
-
I was serious in my previous post, so I think you didn't get me. I do like the mood in this forum! Anyway I don't mind opinions about something so subjective as look. What I like others can hate, and vice versa.
And yes, I'm a wanker, i know it and I'm proud!!!! :D
-
The wrap is ugly and of no performance value but it does work in keeping the heat in the pipe, my wife wrapped a portion of her rear exhaust on the Scout to keep her leg from burning-and put the heat shield back on to hide it. Really quite a difference.

So you'll be quite happy when some other appearance obsessed idiot tries to do the same thing without your elevated skills and knowledge and ends up seriously compromising their already marginal suspension, crashes and hurts or kills themselves?
Well done.
Consequences.
Play stupid games? Win stupid prizes! How much public liability insurance do you carry?

Guzzi looks great, that's why they make vanilla and chocolate!
-
So...
Are you from a country where you can take your gun to a restaurant, can ride without a helmet in some states or where you can build your own 1500HP alcohol powered dragster and give a walk with it? Those are things that I respect and admire (personal freedom), but... you are worried about a water canteen? Come on...

This should be interesting.

PeteRoper: try decaf. Might make you more steady on your high horse as a side benefit.

For anyone not familiar with the original posters leather work he makes some of the best looking seats and other bits for a V7 I have seen. I do not have it handy but he has a FB site showing many of his creations. Absolutely great looking craftsmanship. That front fairing (I think he sells in aluminum) IMO looks much better than the original. Has better shots of that too.
-
That is a good looking bike, except for, well you know.
-
WTF Pete? The OP seems quiet adept at defending himself, but I'm coming to his defense none the less.
Why are you tearing into him? He's not responsible for what other less talented folks may do to their bikes. You have some of the most foul looking Griso's I have ever seen, Pink and gehy Green, good god man, you are perhaps the last person I would think should judge ascetics with confidence.
-
Few shots from his site.

I'm worried about people compromising the safety of their vehicles in the name of 'Style'.
As for the 'Persinal Freedom' BS? It's just that BS. Not even worth responding to.

Fellas , this thread is rapidly deteriorating into a personal insult fest with some political commentary thrown in as an added bonus . Let's ease up and remember why we are here .

What the hey? Fella's just having fun. It's not like he's advocating no front brakes, riding without fenders, eating spotted owls or running a steam powered bike on rain forrest.
I figured the bottle contained wishful-thinking and Herron-mist for improved performance. I wish I had a pic of an old nitrous bottle I strapped to the Eldorado in a most dangerous, misleading and possibly a poor example-setting fashion as may regard the idiot generation.
Tape? If it copes directly with heat as it often does for me, it's worth it's weight in seared skin in contact and stress if the radiant heat bugs ya.
Todd.

Thanks to all of you who get this as it is :)
