Title: Adjusting valves on v11 LeMans - remove fairing ?
Post by: MGrego on July 02, 2016, 08:32:58 AM
Looks like rain for the next few days so going to adjust the valves on my 03 V11 lemans.  This will be the first time I've done it on this bike.

Can anyone comment on removing the fairing ?  Does it need to come completely off, or can it be loosened and moved to the side enough to gain access ??

Any advice appreciated !

No meed tp remove anything except the fairing mount above the cylinder and maybe the one forward of that.  IIRC. It'll be pretty obvious.

Chuck is right. But the fairing brackets that attach at the top of the rocker covers can be tricky. You'll need small hands or a long hex-driver.

The fairing is not difficult to remove anyway - take off mirrors, turn signals, and side-scoops, then loosen inner dash panel, and remove about four more screws - then slide the whole fairing forward as one unit.

Thanks Guys, just finished setting the valves --

-- Yes, once I got started it was pretty obvious, just loosen 2 screws on each side of the fairing and you can flex the fairing enough to get a long hex driver on the back 2 bolts of the valve cover.  I was pleasantly suprised at how little trouble it was to gain access to the valves.  No worries at all !!

Now if it would just quit raining.....
