Title: Loose 12V outlets on 2016 Stelvio
Post by: Warba on July 02, 2016, 09:45:13 PM
I wanted to hook up a GPS to the 12 volt outlet on a 2016 Stelvio but the standard cord on both a Garmin and a Tom Tom will not stay in when the motorcycle is operating. I also had 4 different Chinese USB adapters that wont stay in. Is there some kind of a USB adapter I could get that is designed to stay in or are the outlets not designed for motorcycle use?

When I rode a Stelvio, i had the same problem... It's the lack of standards for cigarette lighter plugs... I ended up with a pice of card board wedged into the socket to take up the extra room

I'm dealing with it too.  GPS keeps going on internal battery.  I just finished plumbing in a different receptacle.   we'll see . . . ..

The cigarette lighter sockets are crude.

If you only have one bike where you use the GPS break open the plastic cigarette lighter plug and wire the little circuit card direct to the bike.
I have mine in the headlight bucket connected to the park lamp circuit so its only on with the key.

The GPS works on 5 VDC, you can also use a USB adapter and a USB cable.
