Title: First Drop - on the V7II

Well today was the day.  I'll have it marked on my calandar..
After riding for about 2.5 hours today and getting to my destination.
Trying to go up a steep hill driveway entrance and with the a vehicle right behind me. I began my climb but did not have the bike in first. So from a almost dead stop I tipped left and could not hold it.
Bike slid down incline a bit . No damage to me what so ever and
Fortunately the engine guards saved the tank the cylinders the bars and everything except for 2 items.
The heat guards on the muffler and some nasty gashes, scrapes and scratches on the bottom back portion of my mufflers.
Also the engine guard is scratched but that can be sent for powder coating again.

Well I'm beating my self up and thinking how I could not have it in first.

Bike started up quickly again and after I put it into first we shot up the hill without a problem.

Now after riding back home another 2+ hours and the bike riding really great all I could think about is what a huge dumb ass rookie move (I am a rookie) and how much will this cost me?

Anybody have the first idea on cost of a new muffler right side 2016 v7II special.?
Difficult to install myself or should I take in to dealer?

Happens to all of us, even after we've gained experience.
Mufflers, very easy to install, not so easy to pay for.
Right side muffler, part 2B002069.  AF1 Racing will sell you one for $628.72.  You might luck out and find someone who has installed aftermarket mufflers and will sell the original ones for less.  Check the Swap Meet section here.

Wallet pain is better than physical pain!
Be glad you weren't injured. The bike is fixable, but lessons can be expensive.

One bolt and one clamp.  Piece of cake.  You will need metric wrenches.

If it makes you feel better, I "dropped" my bike on perfectly level ground. Just lost my footing for a split second and couldn't hold it up. I eased it to the asphalt but still left ugly scratches. I think we all do it sometime.

I hadn't dropped one in years then  a few years ago, I ran out of turn signals in a month,that was the thing that broke first. Seems MS had destroyed the nerve connection to my right leg. Big hit on my ego, not being able to hold up a bike, after hundreds of thousands of miles, even completed a Law Enforcement motorcycle course so I am certificated for "advanced patrol and persuit" .  Even with a good reason for dropping one, I empathize with you, makes you feel like an idiot! I had to go to a sidecar unit and that is so different from a motorcycle it's indescribable.I hope you have many years of not dropping to enjoy! I would put anti seize compound on your muffler connections if you have them off.
