Title: Convert duel point distributor issues
Post by: giusto on July 08, 2016, 10:48:52 PM
Hello

Recently got my Convert on the road and after about 50 miles (a few very short local rides) I am getting significant backfiring.
It ran great at first....perfect idle and cruised well...plugs looked a tiny bit lean but good.
I have taken the tank on and off several times..to check/change and tighten brake lines...I don't think I pinched any wires...but?

took the carbs off and cleaned them and blew them out (there was some new crud in them from the old pos petcocks and screens...so I replaced them with new) and still backfiring issues

I took the distributor cap off and notice massive spark at one set of points and relatively small spark at other. I had replaced the condensers when I replaced the points first time around and it ran well for 50 plus miles.

any ideas ?

Thanks

:1: on new condensors can be dodgy.  Check your advance springs while you have it open.
