Title: V7 special ii feels slower than v7 Classic....

Hi, I've just done 1100 miles on my v7 special ii and it just feels seems to have a little less umph than I remember on my v7 Classic.

I know if takes a few thousand miles, maybe 5 to really loosen up so I'm wondering if I'm being impatient or if anyone else has experienced this or has any ideas?

Definitely feels less powerful, I'm wondering if it's euro 3 emissions etc...

If that is the case it seems like my option is one of the re-map boxes I've seen discussed on here..?

(Grits teeth!) There is no such thing as a 'Remap Box'.

A map from Beetle (Mark) will make a very noticeable improvement.

If you have a laptop you are already part of the way there. 

Follow Beetle's tutorial here, http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=69168.0     I read through all the pages.  The thread contains loads of good information.  You will learn from others who have stumbled through the process, but ultimately had success. 

Buy the cables recommended on that tutorial from Lonelec, download the cable drivers Beetle recommends.  Download the reader, writer, needed for the V7II and Guzzidiag and make a donation to the cause.

Contact Beetle (Mark) by PM or email to acquire the map specific to your bike.

Thanks - I'll have a think and a read, not sure I fancy DIY re-mapping tbh.

I may get in touch with Guzzitech - I know that their remap "tool" (which looks like a box to me)  isn't really needed and that you could use the Guzzidiag software if you buy the cables, but what you're really paying for is the expertise.

Of course it is up to you.  The process is dead simple and can do no harm. 

The first step in the process is saving the factory map.  If for any reason you want, or need to go back to the factory map it is 5 minutes away with a couple of taps on your computer. 

The process is risk free, the cost is very reasonable ~$150,  and the results are universally acknowledged as GREAT!!!  We are truly blessed to have access to this resource!  Very talented folk around the globe have toiled away racking up massive numbers of man-hours on this project  just so our bikes can run better.   :bow:

Consider a different avenue.  Try tightening the throttle cables.

I adjusted my map recently (I have a MyECU programmable ECU) and did some minor maintenance as well. 
Bike ran super!  With a much snappier response and more ump when accelerating. 

But I was wise enough to realize it was the simple maintenance that did it, i.e. tightening the throttle cables to remove the slack.
It really made a difference.
Especially since my map changes were just to reduce knocking, so they were unlikely to increase power.

Well I know where there is a hot, one owner V7, not that I’m trying to tell you to trade it in. However, in 1973 it would suck the be Jesus out of anything Ducati, the Lavarda, Honda. It would only go to 130 which is what the gearing would allow. In all honesty the stock V7 sport could only make it up to 110 but after that it kind of fizzled out in fact it was faster in fourth gear than it was in fifth.

What K rpm's are shifting at?  What K rpm's are you cruising at?  A lot of time spinning the crank will make a big difference.
