How to Prepare Gin-Soaked Raisins
The first mention of the use of gin-soaked raisin in the treatment of arthritis is credited to the advice of the late radio icon, Paul Harvey, in the 1900s. Since then this strange remedy has gained popularity and garnered some positive testimonials.
Over the years since it was first mentioned, the recipe for gin-soaked raisin has been used and modified endlessly. However, the same basic steps needed to prepare this remedy are used in all variations of the recipe.
To prepare gin-soaked raisin, first empty one box of dried white raisin in a shallow container. Only white or golden raisin should be used for this recipe. Then pour enough gin into the container to cover the raisin.
Cover the container and keep it covered for 7 – 10 days to allow the raisin to steep in the gin.
Allow all the gin to evaporate to leave gin-soaked raisins in the container. These raisins keep well when refrigerated. The popular advice is to take nine of these “drunken raisins” every day. Most users report improvements in arthritis symptoms between 1 – 8 weeks of using this remedy.
Gin-soaked raisins are safe to use and no side effects are expected as long as the number of raisins taken does not exceed 10 per day.

The recipe says to evaporate the gin off before using the raisins.
If that's the case, then ... I'll just stick to gin.
Haven't had arthritis yet, but I'm not taking any chances, and will continue my juniper based treatments.

May I highly recommend you consider investigating adding Turmeric to your daily intake. Its natures anti-inflammatory. Its been a staple in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Available in good potency and formula at Costco (most everywhere really), its the primary ingredient curcumin combined in a pill with the black pepper that compliments its performance. Its also got anti-cancer properties that you'll find well documented in your research travels. Been using it for years w/no issues. Really helps with the joint pain. FWIW/IMHO/YMMV. Bon Chance....

A relative of mine rode gin soaked raisins all the way to age 99. He was driving up until about when he was 93. Must be something to them!

You will ruin good gin ( I will assume that all you have is good gin) and good raisins. I have tried it and it was too nasty. It might work, but, for me, it was not worth it. Cherry juice is much more palatable. I use tart cherry juice that is not from concentrate. I have used curcumin as well. Different stuff works for different people. Whatever you use, you have got to be patient, it takes a while.

hey, I like rasins and I like Gin!! Gonna try it JUST cuse! :thumb: And the Turmeric thing 2, hadnt thought about that, heard lots of good stuff about Turmeric.

The raisins don't want to get out of the gin bath...they keep looking at me and saying 'Later, dude!'...I guess I'll have some more gin and wait them out... :boozing:
