This week's MCN (Motor Cycle News) has a nice, two-page article on the Stornello. Their website is:http://www.motorcyclenews.com/ but I did not see it there yet. If you are in a hurry to read it you can buy and download the latest issue.
Essentially they said they liked it the best of the V7s and it showed a lot of quality and is a good rider. The nicest quote was that they felt it is the best of the current retros (Ducati, Triumph, BMW). Their only "niggle" was a desire for more power, although I think they missed the point that it is at the max of A2 compliant. They also said the engine is Euro 4 compliant, which I didn't know.
In any case, I'm off now for a ride down the Blue Ridge Parkway on my "underpowered" Stornello....!

Yes, I like the Stornello.
If/when Guzzi puts the V9 engine in the Stornello, I expect to buy one.
I agree with the power criticisms. It's not a need as much as a want.

Well, the ride did not quite turn out as hoped! We had the dream of warmth but not hot, clear roads,etc., but got five hours of thunderstorms and traffic. Oh well, the joy of the mountains in summer. The Blue Ridge Parkway (when the traffic is light and it is not pouring with rain) is still one of the best rides.
This morning an odd thing happened, though. When we arrived at a breakfast spot I put the bike on the side stand (leaning a little further than it did the night before) and about a quarter cup of "skim milk" dripped out of the forward drive shaft boot. The cable tie is still on and it seems tight. I plan to cut the cable tie, peel back the boot, let it dry and then give it a squirt with lithium grease. Any thoughts?
