....beIN right now for the next 2 hours for the German GP tomorrow. Actually as interesting to watch as the race as all the bikes have cameras on them. It''s like being on the track.
-
Lorenzo crashed 3X trying to qualify so he's back now at the start. Rossi on the front row w/Marquez.
Race can be viewed on the west coast @ 11am on beIN if you're interested.

crazy race. great strategy by the winner.

Yeah, can't remember so much drama in a GP race before. It looks like Marquez is not going to win the race this time but in the end he does since he & Honda made the right decisions. Rossi made a bad decision not coming in to change bike/tires sooner like Marquez did. Wet/dry track results are a gamble, that's for sure.
-
Rossi did the same thing last year (I don't remember the GP). He had a huge lead and if he had changed bikes earlier in the race, he would've banked enough points to have won the title.
He made the same mistake today, despite his team's instructions.

I remember that...........time to send Rossi out to pasteur.:.....or was it Marquez that did that last year?

Are you suggesting Rossi needs to be put in a sauna at 161.1 degrees for 15 seconds

Nope, I'm suggesting he is put out to pasture like a retired race horse. :azn:

pasture = pasteur ?

pasture = pasteur ? Doh, yeah, my bad. :boxing:

Dusty would just as soon boil Rossi in a vat.
Where as, I think you believe he should retire.

Nah , Rossi is an interesting study in what happens when an athlete believes they are larger than the sport . No need to boil , or pasteurize the guy

1. Rossi is in the top 3 of championship points.
2. Rossi regularly puts in front row qualifying results.
3. Rossi is still doing this in his late 30's.
4. Rossi has huge fan appeal.
I think MotoGP benefits greatly having Rossi as a rider as well as he is good for the sport. Not a Rossi fan but I can see his worth.
I'm ready for a dry race again.

No doubt Rossi is one of the best racers ever , it is just that he seems to need a nemesis . In his early career it was Biaggi , then Stoner , and now Marquez . Difference is , Max was never as fast so he could denigrate him , where as the other guys , including Lorenzo , have shown to be as fast and at times faster , so he can't belittle them in the same way . Fogarty was a bit the same way . Guess maybe I miss the type of racers like Duke, Surtees, then Hailwood , Ago , Sheene , Spencer , Lawson, fast W/O seeming to be incredibly arrogant .

except he is bigger than the rest of the sport. He is still quite humble considering that.
-
No animosity towards Rossi , and yes , he has had a remarkable career . Still , sometimes arrogance is just arrogance . Like I said before , Hailwood and Lawson are my heroes . Dunno , maybe the amount of money and fame surrounding both car and bike GP racing has created a different type pf personality than existed 30 years ago . The MXer McGrath was kind of the same way .

Certainly some folks believe that , the Earnhardt syndrome . Joey Dunlop was a god in Ireland and most of the UK , he was actually humble .

I think your mistaking extreme competiveness for arrogance. You do not succeed in this sport without it.
This is a different time and there were no cell phone cameras and instant media in the days of Hailwood.
Life was much more private.
Now a celebrity like a GP racer is never completely alone.
30 yeas ago nobody heard or saw anything more than a few interviews and mag articles.
Chill.

I give , Rossi is the most important , wonderful , glorious , greatest , fastest , omnipotent motorbike racer ever . Sorry for doubting that , so sorry . My goodness , everyone else should just get out of his way , just let him take his rightful place at the top of the podium , in fact , he shouldn't even be made to share the podium with 2nd and 3rd , those lesser lights that , well honestly , simply don't matter .

Hey Mr. D,
Step back and take a deep breath man!
Nobody is saying the Rossi IS the best. Some of us,(at least me), admire his tenacity and enthusiasm to win.
We wish him well and hope he can hang in there. You just seem to have an attitude toward him??
Puzzled.

So he is not the greatest ? Now I am confused

I guess this is pointless, so be it but......
A highly completive person like Rossi or Marquez or Lorenzo and yes even Hailwood had to have a target, so called nemesis, to shoot for. Its part of the game like war. Were you not a racer?
There is not one name you have mentioned that was not somewhat arrogant, but in the old days they were not subject to such scrutiny as we are today.
Its part of a warriors arsenal to intimidate and conquer.
Most of the people that you mention would not make your not-arrogant persona with todays media coverage.

Rossi is racing to win another Championship. He blew his chance last year Today he didn't make it any easier this year by making a bad decision. When he feels he can no longer win a Champ. he will retire. His age is showing whether others want to admit it or not and he is currently 59 points behind Marquez for the title. Marquez is his replacement as the top current Moto GP road racer.

not good enough. JUMP HIGHER

AGAIN!

Actually, I agree that Rossi is the best road racer ever because he has had more competition to beat than any racers before(Agostini, Mike Hailwood, etc.) him. They had fewer real competitors with a comparable bike and Rossi has raced longer than anyone else.
But right now it looks like Marquez is going to dominate for years. Of course it looked this way a couple years ago but Marc hadn't matured enough to pull it off. Now he's capable of utterly dominating again unless he get's hurt. Kind of like Mick Doohan did in his era.
