Title: Michigan Moto Guzzi Rally - September 9-11, 2016

Come join the us in Interlaken, Michigan September 9-11 for our 15th annual Guzzi Rally.
We have a beautiful ride planned on Saturday through Northwestern Lower Michigan's' world famous splendor. Nearby is Sleeping Bear Dunes considered one of the finest of our National Parks.

Steve Moore (flat track racer from way back) has his motorcycle repair shop and cycle campground in Interlaken and has hosted hundreds of bike/camp/rallys over the last 30 years.
A great guy and wonderful family atmosphere... and ge always supplies free soft serve for his rally patrons.

Interlochen. Traverse City just a 15 minute ride north is a huge tourist mecca and has scores of hotels and restaruants.
Local cabin rentals are an option...nearest hotel/motels are 5 miles east at Chums Corners or
10 miles west in the town of Honor.

If you would like specific recomendations please ask.

Found some about 2 miles from the camp ground. I'll reserve one of them this Friday. Any idea how many bikes will be there?

And yes rain or shine we will have our lunch ride through beautiful rolling hills at lake shore...but I prefer not to have the rain for next weekend.

What are best roads leading north out OH? Dirty, muddy back roads are a plus but I'd like to steer clear of the deep sand! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have a friend that lives in Detroit and his father who usually attends with him every year cannot attend this year… He had concerns about coming alone… Would you be interested in pairing up with him as he is coming out of Detroit and you'll be going right past
If time and mileage is not a concern I would stay low on 20 west ( in Ohio) to 69 N to 96 w to Ionia... Then pick up 66 To Lake City and then take 42 W to Manton... Follow 42 to 37 N. That will bring you to chums corners which is due east of interlocken … Turn west on 31 S. go 6 miles Cyclemoore campground.

You could skip the 69 and 96 part by taking local roads...but do hit 66 it is an enjoyable roll through michigan farmlands and small towns... Mostly just a 2 lane.
There are a myriad of smaller local and gravel roads that will parallel this route should you want to get muddy.

Dropping off some stuff in Shepherd when we drive by then up to Ellis lake resort. Don't mind if someone wants to tag along but I'll be moving fast and taking expressway because I have so many miles to cover.

Friends tell me I'm not a good traveling partner. They complain I ride too fast and take the longest routes to get anywhere. :clock:

I doubt I'd be good riding company. Sorry :cry:

I'm looking for those secret back road routes. I never travel by highway except to work. Cause I'm always running late! :police:

I'd really like to stay glued to two lanes and dirt/hard pack as much as possible.

Remember Michigan is the meca for gravel roads and hills climbs

Drive as fast or slow as you want :)
