Please help!
I'm removing the gearbox from my 1999 California sport. Everything is disconnected but I can't get the bolt that goes under the gearbox out. The nut is off and the bolt turns turns. However, it doesn't screw out and I can't get it to pull out.
Any ideas?

That's what they make hammers & punches for, don't hold back, hit it !!

Don't forget to support the engine under the sump. When you remove the bottom gearbox bolt the stand will collapse.

Yes, but use a brass or aluminum punch so that you don't risk peening the threads on the end of the long bolt. Wooden dowel maybe?

I've been using a BFH, (Big Freaking Hammer). I was afraid I was missing some kind of internal bolt and holding back. I'll attack it with renewed vigor.
Thank you

If you look on the backside of casting where bolt goes through it is open, could be full of grunge, gravel, road tar etc.. Clean out and spray penetrating oil on around bolt, may help. To get it started out you might want to put nut on end of threads to wack it hard for 1/2", it'll help threads not to be peened.

I knock a bolt in the hole as the big mounting bolt comes out then, once it's out, I knock another one in the other side. This keeps all the centre stand mounting gear together and makes life easier later on.
I recently had the 'box out of my V7Sport and, apart from dealing with drum brakes and the business to do with the right hand shift, I expect the job is much the same on the Cali Sport. I did a couple of posts for my blog.

As state earlier start with the nut on the bolt to get some movement. Spray penetrating lube. Whack with punch and hammer. Keep spraying. Whack it from the bolt head too to loosen up stuff. Whack it again from the thread side.

Thanks for all the help. I sprayed it with StrongArm, let it sit and it came out.
A happy ending.
