I was up there yesterday and the gas station was out of fuel, and no beer sold there now. So, come prepared.

Wayne should be along shortly, but it is on the MGNOC rally list. The food at the Lodge is real good, come & enjoy.

Yeh I rode back down the mountain when I found out they don't have beer anymore!

The Georgia Camp out is held at TWO of Suches in Suches, GA.  Great camp out, great place (camping/lodge/cabins/food), so so people (unless Kim comes with me), decent food, and always there's someone to provide entertainment.

The only "organized" activity is Wayne usually leads a ride through the North Georgia roads Saturday morning.  For years we've had lunch provided to us by Rider's Hill but unfortunately that's over with it.  Oh well...  I will let Wayne chime in with the details but I highly recommend this event  :thumb:

That's pretty much it...no registration, nothing officially planned. It's more of a camp out than a rally. Depending on how many show up, there may be 1 or 2 organized rides on Saturday, route TBD.

Lisa and I have cabin #5 secured. Friends of ours snagged a cabin also.
Wifey doesn't ride much so I expect to take several "slow down!" jabs in the ribs.

Nothing much to add. This is more of a NAR. Not A Rally. A campout at a great location with rain.... I mean... with weather.
I moved the weekend up to reduce conflicts with other things at the campground. Though last year we all got a free steak dinner because of the conflict.

No idea what the Saturday ride will be yet, since RidersHill will not be the destination.

The campground, Two Wheels of Suches, has cabins and meals if you want. They even recently paved the entrance, so there will be people there that fear gravel.

Can't understand why the local gas station doesn't sell beer. Used to be the county was dry. That changed and they sold lots of beer, probably good for business. Where is the closest beer stop now?
Thanks, Bill

The closest at around 12 miles would be either the Marathon gas station just outside of Dahlonega or Turner's  near 19/129.  Neither have much beyond the Bud/Bud Light staples last time I was there however.

Your best bet is to stop at an Ingle's on your way in to the area as they have a really good selection at all of their stores.  There's one in the last town before Suches on most routes except, surprisingly, Dahlonega.  I stop at the one in Cleveland on the way in.

Coming from the south, Charlie's Grocery has a decent selection of microbrews and local wine.  It's on GA 52, just south of where it joins US 19.

Jim's Smokin' Que has some pretty darn good barbecue on 129 near Blairsville.  Joe's Barbecue in Blue Ridge was picked by Trip Advisor as the best barbecue in the US for 2015.  I know it's not the same as going to Rider's Hill, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

Since I destroyed my MG, I'll have to do like last year and ride my Yammie.

Speaking for myself, I avoid Helen as it's a tourist trap.  Dahlonega has an authentic German restaurant.  Bratzeit.

http://www.bratzeit.com/  German beer on tap.

I avoid Dahlonega...spent too much time hanging off rocks there.  I like Helen but it has become more of a tourist trap since my visits in the 80s.  sounds like a cool non rally

Go early & stay late. Wayne's scaring off the "inside the perimeter only" riders here in GA. Now we'll only have 7 registered again this year.

I'll still be attending even though there is a hurricane alert for my return trip to FL. If I have to hang out in a motel for a day or two on the way home so be it.

There will probably be a lot of rain in Florida during the return trip. Looks like rain on the way up also. Due to some STUFF that has come up I will be getting up there Saturday morning. I plan on staying an extra day or so and doing some riding up there, weather permitting. The ride home to Florida is looking to be a wet one. Riding in the rain with the suit on is really not too bad, until I get to Jacksonville, Fl. Then the insanity starts.

I went, I saw & I did relax!  Went up on Thurs afternoon cause on the weekend it is a zoo up there. One of Waynes best for attendance. The best food, campgrounds, roads, Guzzi friends, what more can you ask for!!  The only rain was light and for a short time at night on Fri.

Did anyone else on the lunch ride see the photographer on Blood Mountain?
I wonder what their web site is?

Actually I know a photographer that sits on Blood Mtn, a gal at my bank in Duluth. What is odd is that she is Anthony's(from RHill) ex-sister in law. I'll stop in and see if it was her.

I've been searching for them as well. Usually they have a sign with their web site, but not this guy. Not good business practice to not tell people where they can buy your images.
