I was looking at the wiring diagram for the Norge and I could see the front and wheel speed sensors but they just seem to go to the ABS unit and not the instrument panel. There is a wire that goes from the ABS unit to the instrument panel which I assume (dangerous, I know) is for the ABS light. The reason I was looking is that I'm having a sidecar fitted with new wheels which probably won't be the same size as the original - in which case the speedo will be inaccurate. Any tips anyone?

On my non-ABS Stelvio, I can trim the speedometer/odometer to about anything using GuzziDiag. Not sure if that applies to the ABS models and their maps though.

Yeah, I'm not sure either. I tried adjusting the speedo parameter back to the stock value of 13044 on my ABS Norge after loading a no-ABS 1200 Sport map. The speedo went haywire pinning maximum when I was in second gear.
If anybody can suggest how I stuffed up, I would appreciate it.

I believe it's down to different interpretations of the speedo correction factors with ABS and Non ABS models, (I seem to remember it's done on percentages?). Not my area of expertise but I know Mark has worked it out as I too funny und out about the speedo pegging when I first loaded a non ABS map into an ABS 1200 Sport 8V. Laugh? I thought my panties would never dry! As soon as you were over walking pace it said you were doing 300KPH! Mark soon beat some sense into it. :grin:

The ABS unit sends a speed signal to the ECU, which crunches the signal with its own speed fudge factor (13044 in this case). It then sends a signal to the instruments, which does its own crunching to show the speed guesstimate.
If your wheels are going to be different sizes than stock, you will need to modify the speedo correction value in the map. Do this by getting an accurate speed using a GPS, then modify the speedo correction by the percent difference displayed in the speedo. Increase the the speedo correction value if your actual (GPS) speed is higher than indicated.
Dave, the speedo correction for the non-ABS Sport is 1630.

Thanks for the info folks. There seems to be a lot of 'intelligence' going on these days. Just how many computers have we on got on our bikes?

There's something in the map for the non-ABS configuration that is wildly different from the ABS version - and it doesn't seem to be just the so-called fudge factor value. I had to exchange the unit on mine and was inadvertently given a non-ABS one - and experienced much what you did. Only way to deal with it was to get an ABS unit back in there and start over with any changes.

What I intend to do is attach the original map and cut & paste new fuel settings on it. If this upsets the speedometer, I will give up.

only difference between abs and non abs maps is the speeedo correction value, what is a multiplication or deviding factor. When you hold the mouse over the speedo correction, yoiu get a list of diffrenet values as used in all 5am bikes. How hard can it be. If it's hard, take the old map, load it in tuberpro, and look at the value. Load the new to use map and set the same value in as the old map. Click on save in the speedo correction thing, samve the map under new name, add something leik speedo to it so you know what it is.
And to come back at the sidecar, you can adjust the correction value as Beetle pointed out to anything until you are happy.
